After refusing plumb lbws all series from the Pakistani bowlers Indian umpire has just SAWN OFF an in-form Younis Khan at the first chance given despite clearly being hit outside the line of off stump. This arse-kissing slave doesn’t deserve to be called a neutral umpire. he must be thrown off the panel at once.
Ehsan, please leave this here as it is an important issue in it’s own right regardless of the ongoing test match.
There’s no point in showing me Indian aggression when their umpiring representaive is kissing South African butt is there? The Indians can come and kiss mine as well if they want.
Let’s look at this logically and see if the serious charge of slavery which has been levelled at Venkat is acceptable or not.
The Issue: Neutrality of Umpires
How can we determine if an umpire is acting in a neutral manner? Let’s go through this step by step:
1)** Applying the laws of the game.**
This is the first job of an umpire. BY LAW a batsman can not be out if he is hit outside the off stump when playing a shot.
Benefit of the Doubt goes to the Batsman
It could be argued that the umpire made a genuine mistake, but then he shouldn’t be giving anyone out unless he is SURE that he was out. The benefit of the doubt MUST go to the batsman.
**Establishing consistent rules for both sides. **
Again continuing from the above point, we have seen both Bucknor and Venkat consistently turn down lbw appeals where there could be NO DOUBT whatsoever, i.e. when it’s hitting middle stump halfway up when the South Africans were batting. In which case there has been a standard set that benefit of the doubt goes to the batsman even when he is clearly out. What changed when Younis got hit on the pad outside off stump? Did Venkat suddenly get a bout of double vision?
Am I being biased as a Pakistani?
Well it could be argued, but then the South African commentators also agreed that younis got a bad decision and that the South African batsmen got some helpful decisions yesterday.
The VERDICT:
Venkat can have made that decision today for one of only two reasons:
i) He was paid by the South Africans
ii) He is an arse-kissing slave desperate to curry favour.
We have no proof to make the first charge stick so I think it’s fair to say it must be the No: (ii) we go for.
IMO this buffon should be removed from the Umpire’s panel because his neutrality has been demonstrably proven to susceptible to Uncle Tom slave-tendencies.
If you look at the thread of the first test , I predicted that this "Respected" Venkat dude will continue to make bad calls particularly going against us.Unfortunately I was right.
He started off by denying a clean plumb of Waqar's bowling followed by other terrible calls.
Younis khan was clearly not out , I could have said without looking at the replay. This is the second time in this test Younis khan got unlucky!
Taufiq Umer was unlucky too in the first test . Later I will come up with a list of bad calls made by this Venkat dude.
I wasn’t around for the first test so I missed that but you called it right if that’s the case :k:
It was a disgraceful decision today for all the reasons mentioned above. I alos was convinced that Younis was hit outside the line without the benefit of a replay so how Venktwat can have thought that there was no doubt is beyond me. He was playing so well which makes it worse.
I agree with that,
Even in first test match, he gave some decisions in favor of SA and against Pakistan. and when i pointed that out, AQ starrted advocationg that he is the most respected umpire bla bla.
well he may be respected, but he needs to get his glasses nyumber straight.
well there were bad decisions for both sides,
but ou got to admit, that the number was greater for the Paki side..
Mr Extreme, I agree with you totally but at the other end
Asif_k is right as well for that Gibbs decision.
but the the number is clearly edge over SA's.
Hey you won't hear me complaining about bad decisions they go both ways usually, genuine mistakes can happen as well. But this wasn't a nick behind it was a clear case of not giving the batsman the benefit of the doubt when in fact it was clearly not out.
At least Bucknor standing at the other end was consistent and giving not outs for both sides.

No faida in bajaing of been in front of bhains :)
and one more thing you simply cant compare Bucknor and Venkar its like comparing Apples and Oranges :) . Buknor is one of the most respected and consistant umpire of todays cricket infact of all time.

I can not comment on the assessment of the decisions, however the Pakistani batting was equally poor. Even if it were for one or 2 decisions against the team, out of 11 players 8 were caught in the first innings and in the second 7 were caught out (including a stumping) and 1 was run out.
The LBWs in the first innings were of Younis Khan and Akmal, where only Khan could have really made a difference. In the second the LBW’s were off Akmal and Younis. Neither one could have saved us in the end.
If the 4 decisions were bad, only 1 would have saved our skin. Overall it was a poor batting performance by the Pakistani team…as always.
I know that sometimes Umpires make mistakes. They say if an umpire gets it right 9 out of 10 times, then he is a good umpire. Elite Umpires are expected even more accuracy. Although Venkat started out well in the last WC in 1999, he has been making a lot of "very obvious" mistakes lately. I mean I am talking about Caught behinds with big deflections.
This thread was not prompted by today's Ravindu Shah's Not Out decision but I have seen Venkat blow up on numerous occassions. I can understand if he is out of form thesedays but this form has been really bad for some time now.
I realize umpiring is a difficult job and requires immense concentration. I have commended Venkat on his good umpiring in the past, so I thought it's only fair to point out his poor form as of late.
