Wow - Venkat must be doing a Good Job 
Now just reviving this thread to prove how people blame the umpires after every Pak loss.
Is aleem dar is the same guy , who was almost hit to death by a rocketing shot from sachin in India-Namibia match ??
He seems to be a real nice guy!
And well like players have bad phase , umpires too can have a bad time; its not that they are bad. Venkat has a very impressive record and foremost thing is that he's never been partial. In fact in most matches, his (unfair technically)decisions have gone against India!
This thread is about Venkat NOT Aleem Daar.
It is not about India, Pakistan or Steve Bucknor either.

Well I think they should just get rid of umpires permanently, with today's technology I think every decision should be judged upon the replay.
Get a life man, what are you trying to accomplish by bringing old threads back, don't you have anything else better to do.
Yeah that wud be cool :k: but immdiate thing ICC should do is to give referee or third umpire more power to intervene, when umpire gives some proven ( in TV replay)wrong decision.
I thought you were the only matured indian here in Gs boy was I wrong. We were pointing out how incompetent venkat is. It doesnt matter if Pak win or lose, the fact remains he is a terrible Umpire!. Some ppl already agreed in this thread that it wouldnt have made any difference so quit getting all jumpy like a lil old kid.

yes venkat is a lousy umpire. no doubt about that. i remember 1996 aus-wi WC semi. the wi tail was wiped by warne. all by the grace of venkat. and what could richardson(WI captain who was playing well) do? he was stranded at the non-strikers end. i havent had too many opportunities of watching venkat's excellence after that.

Stop seeing Venkat through your India-Pak lens and you will find that Venkat is no different from other Umpires in the ICC panel who make human mistakes.
I say ICC should stop using Indian umpires in Pakistan matches because an innocent mistake by an Indian Umpire can easily be translated as a biased decision and vice-versa for Paki Umpire in matches featuring India.
I have seen too many Venkat-officiated matches to have any doubts about his integrity. I have only one complaint against Venkat and that is even when it is 99.99999% certain that the batsman is LBW or caught behind he gives the benefit of the "very negligible" doubt to the batsman.

Venkat WAS a good umpire. IMO he is definitely on the way down. In fact both he and Bucknor put in a pathetic performance in the Group B match between Sri Lanka and South Africa. SA were allowed to continue batting in near torrential rain for some reason when everyone knew that if they went off (like they should have in such conditions) they were out of the tournament.
I see far better umpires coming through, Neil Mallender of England, Billy Bowden, and our own Aleem Dar who was picked to officiate in the match between England and Australia - and did a fantastic job.

as players have bad time, umpires too can have bad time. And it doesn’t mean that he’s a bad umpire. He’s counted among one the best umpires still! 
U know any normal human being have bad times , when u dont perform well, wutever ur profession is( if u r a professional , u might have noticed it )
Yeah Jai Prakash is a bad umpire 
I bash him when he makes bad decisions, I'll praise him when he makes good one's. The original thread was started during the Pak tour of SA where he made an inexplicable decision. I don't know who he was trying to please.
His bad decisions continue in this WC. I don't think umpires can give excuse of going through 'bad times'.
I think Venkat is a good umpire, all matches have their fair share of good and bad decisions, just because Venkat is Indian, you have this negaite attitude against him. I can name some awful awful pakistani umpires that have made atrocious decisions in the past....
Grow up. The best Umpire we have produced in the the past decade, is Aleem dar.
cool down my friend. Yes Pakistan has had some bad umpires in the past, but that doesn't mean that pointing out an Indian umpire's slide from high standards is due to prejudice. If that was the case I wouldn't be making statements like Sachin is the best batsman I've ever seen. Let's keep an objective viewpoint here.
