strike three

My view as an American is that we clearly have struck out in the middle east.

Strike 1 in their eyes was preference toward Israel
Strike 2 was the invasion of Iraq
Strike 3 was the prisoner abuse revelation

We’re past the point of no return so I say it’s time to put down the bat and head back to the dug out. The Iraqi people don’t want democracy, or at least our help getting them there.

The UN clearly wants no part of Iraq either, so my guess is that it will quickly descend into civil war and ultimately become a base of operations for Islamic terrorism. This can only spell more trouble for muslims worldwide, but at least America has egg on its face right?

An honest question to the more “islamist minded” of you: What happen swhen the US leaves?

I don't think I'm *that
kind of Islamist, but here's my answer: The same thing that happened before the US entered.

so keeping Saddam in power was your preference lunatic? I have no shame about removing that man from power. anyway, answer the question

Spoon, how about offering more specifics instead of smugness?

Not trying to be smug.. and can't really offer up specifics cause there are different inputs this time around.. but things will work themselves out naturally. Iraq could slip into civil war. It could be split along the old Ottoman lines and then be conquered one by one by Iran, Syria and Turkey. They could engage each other and create a somewhat functioning govt of their own and watch it fall apart and be rebuilt a few times over the next few years until another generation gets to take over. Etc.

I don't know. But not much is going to happen with us there as we are now.

Sti i suggest u snap out of american fantasy land. There is no chance in hell that US will withdraw from iraq any time soon. I suggest you give this article a read:

“14 US military bases are already under construction, enough to accommodate the (for the moment) 110,000 American soldiers who will stay in Iraq until at least 2007.”

http://www.atimes.com/atimes/Middle_East/FD09Ak02.html

Stu and other americans. I'm not sure you guys get it yet. The muslimaniacs among us will continue to hate you no matter what.. There stated goal is to subdue and kill americans and destory American interests in the world. Hastily withdrawing out of Iraq will be a victory for the terrorists and only bolster there image in the Muslim world. Unless Americans are willing to live in isolation for the rest of their lives, they will have to win this fight. Even isolation is not a guarantee of peace.

The only way America can now win Iraq is through complete and total show of force. None of the debacles of Fallujah anymore.

This guy is Sean Hannity with a desi accent! :hehe:

:rotfl:

Spare him please, this individual is extremly sick... better yet ignore him.

Only real solution is to have UN take over and work under Un supervision and in partnership with the rest of the world to bring some stability there.

Post Soviet Afghanistan should serve as a lesson that things should nto be left in shambles and in turmoil.

Not a total and complete show of military force, but a total and complete effort to form a long term solution there by the world, Not W and co.

what happened when the British left?.. i think the Americans did pretty well for a nation that got rid of a colonial power..

The UN, Arab League and OIC should combine to give Iraq it's dignity and Sovereignty back. But in real terms, so much damage has been done, it will take years to rebuild. It doesn't make know difference what US does, because Iraq is screwed either way.

US should give all the Iraqi's Green Cards so that they can taste the liberation and democracy first hand. At least this way Imdad Ali will flee America in haste and go back to his real roots in the Pind. Where he will be known with his real name Pinduu Ali and not Imdad!

I'd say they probably would like democracy but refuse to have it shoved down their throats at the barrel of a gun. Not many people take kindly to having their country flattened over a period of years then occupied by a foreign force.

The US alliance needs to get out of Iraq and leave them to it. The campaign has been a disaster probably recruiting a generation for bin Laden.

I couldn't have said it better...... It would be nice for Iraqis to see the sample first.... All Iraqis should move to Texas, enjoy the fruits beside they will feel at home... Texas is also a desert with plenty oil...

Sholay, you apparently fail to realize that none of these groups want to touch Iraq w/a 10 foot pole. How do you think the combined islamist/baathist terrorists would view a UN, Arab League and OIC presence, and how would the UN, Arab League and OIC react to the inevitable attacks?

I'm with you though, I say we pull out. The possibility of us winning Iraqi's "hearts and minds" is as much of a pipe dream as the khalifah.

This victim of slavery should read Uncle Tom`s cabin it may be just his type of read.

I would also like welcome the amerikkkan right wing brigade back, you have gone missing for some reason and now decided to come out of the woodwork.

Amerikka is only going to leave iraq in body bags lets face the reality, they did not come thousands of miles through land and sea to now leave quietly.

Stu, don't worry all of here in the US are working for a regime change as well. My parents, Republicans for 30 yrs, myself for 12 yrs...Good family friends, family, associates and all those who used to come to fundraising efforts for the GOP...guess who we are all voting for?

Effective democracy has to begin at home....let us join hands to out this regime. What do you say? :)

:rotfl: call it dissapearance of convenience…

And will you exactly explain by what you mean by an 'Islamist mindset'....if having the right to be independent, in the spirit and letter of the word 'independent', and the right to repel any foreign force which imposes war on your country is being 'Islamist' I would say any sensible person would have an 'Islamist mindset'.

Stu dear...In this game I think we have more then 3 strikes.......
