straightning irons

Hi everyone
I was just curious if anyone has used hair straightning irons , and if they have any side effects, like drying of hair , or split ends n stuff.
I use hair dryers , but they take wayyyyyy too long.
thx

Take a look at this

shoo shoo! :P

You feeling okay Humsa?

I can shoo her all I want

Since the thread Shahreen has posted, I made the leap to ceramic plates .... absolutely fantastic and no comparison at all with the metal plates. It's in a whole other league.

Ceramic plates all the way!!!

^ Can you recommend a good brand? And also give the price range. Thanks.

GHD's...............cost about £100 here in the UK.

Humsa, the one I have is by Farouk Systems Inc.

They use this one in a few salons and my hairdresser used it on me before which is why I knew it had guaranteed results. Don’t ask how much it cost me though. I can honestly say that it is worth the investment. This one is just amazing … seriously.

I’ve seen less expensive ceramic plates that range from $50-$100. I have no idea how they are though.

^ I guess they cost around $200. Not that bad!

Humsa I just saw one of em for like 92 :-s

this is wat i have…n its alot cheaper…it says its ceramic n it works fine..so why r the other ones so much more expensive :-s

Because some are ceramic coated only........the expensive ones have plates that are solid ceramic.

TJ I was converting them into Canadian :P

ohhhh n mehnaz is probably from canada too..hehe n i thought i was getting a better deal :bummer:

Thanks so much for your reply Shahreen, n HumSa..f u :P , you need it more than i do, heh

Tikhi, my one was imported from the States. The company is based in Houston. It is pure ceramic ..... amazing results.

i love my CHI--it is seriously the best $ i've ever spent. It was around $180 CDN and is made by farouk systems...i've had mine for approximately 6 months and use it thrice a week and have had no drying/splitting at all. It does not snag my hair and leaves it silky and smooth. Just make sure to use a heat protector before you iron and condition your hair well. Definately invest in somehting with ceramic coated or pure ceramic plates, though my hairstylist said pure ceramics do not get as hot and do not heat evenly across the plate, and so the uneven spots of heat leads to more damage as opposed to using a ceramic coated plate. As with anything, your results may vary.

You paid $180??? I have the same straightening iron as you, but I see I got ripped off. :hoonh:

Shahreen having tried both do you prefer a straight perm or the ceramic plates?

Straight perm? (I presume you mean Yuko?)

Anyway......definetely having it permanantely straightened. I loved my hair straighteners too but after a while found using them a hassle, too time consuming and I was always getting split ends. And it was annoying to spend so much time and effort only to go out and end up having it all go frizzy if I got caught out in the rain.

Still love my GHD's though.
