Say if you really liked a nail-color, lipstick on someone or even their perfume.. would you stop to ask them the brand and name of the color? Or would you hunt till you’ve found the closest possible match?
Ever liked a particular accessory someone was wearing? Would you stop them to ask?
All those that have stopped someone to ask.. confess right here! What and where!?
Perfumes are my best pals. If i sniff a fragrance that i like, i would stop the person and ask. From what i remember I never got a bad response though i dont like the "I'm not sure" sort of responses.
Definitely! I have no problems with asking or being asked :)
Had a client come in to work once who had a lovely fragrance on and as I loveeee perfume I just had to ask what it was :D ...she was lovely and was very flattered that I liked her choice of perfume lol.
Asked someone in the supermarket once where they got their trousers from... have since purchased many pairs of trousers from the place she recommended.
I do this ALL the time, infact I’m the one who has to do it for my friends too! It’s normally asking about handbags and shoes. There was a girl wearing the CUTEST pumps the other day, just had to ask her! She was totally cool with me asking. I think its such a compliment when people do, I’ve had quite a few people ask me about things too. Mainly when I’m in Pakistan, the person is normally gutted though when I say it from the UK though
I have asked ladies few times like about their Abbaya (which was a complete new style for me. she said she got it from Jordan) and ummmm i m sure i have mostly asked about the dresses/sweaters etc. and never accessories or nail colors.
I usually feel comfortable talking to strangers. I will compliment a stranger ...at a store.....on something that they're wearing. And I guess my compliment sounds sincere that sometimes they'll tell me on their own where they got the item from. And if they don't, I'll ask.
I think that compliments from random strangers are fun to receive....they're more sincere because the person doesn't owe you anything. Whereas a friend or family might praise you because of the relationship factor.
I complimented this girl on her nose ring...it was wire thin (the kind I want)......she told me she got it from England.
Liked this girl's eyeliner....told me where she got it from and the label.
There are other examples as well....can't remember.
I asked this lady once where she got this top she was wearing...it was so cute! It was a pink lacey number and she was wearing it under a suit jacket. So feminine and pretty!
She couldnt remember so she took off her jacket and made me look at the tag inside...lol. So sweet of her.
I won't ask strangers, but i'm comfortable asking people I know. I was stopped and asked what perfume I was wearing I was so shocked to be stopped I forgot the name. The lady thought I didn't want to tell her :(
But I layer-on different ones I never would have been able to give her names..
I have done this a few times, asked people where they got that particular necklace from or even someone whose girl had really cute bows in her hair. She told me about this treasure of a store in our area that carries a variety of hair accessories for little girls.
I have had people stop me too, lately its for this cute purse i carry. Or others will stop to complement on a cute dress or a hijab. They say oh thats so pretty and not realise it came from a store in the mall. They think its something "traditional".
I don't ask, feel too shy but I do get asked if I am wearing false eyelashes regularly. I now carry my mascara around and whip it out and show whoever asks. Also get asked about shoes and jewellery. Most of my friends know which shops I shop at so they won't ask and say stuff like 'that's pretty...don't tell me you got that from Oasis/Mikey':D
LOL I never ask.. I just keep my eyes open for something similar. The mehndi outfit..uff I think everyone in the hall asked and since flower jewellery isn’t easily available in Dubai. That too!
I Guppy asked me, where I get my jewellery from and complimented it, men do notice

No, she didn't tell me. If I lived in England (I live in the US and she was visiting)...perhaps she would have told me.
It doesn't surprise me in the least that she got it from England...considering there are so many desi shops there that you should be able to find a wire-thin nose ring.
