How many of you know how to drive a stick shift car?
Re: Stick Shift
Me.
Stick is all we drive over here in Pakistan.
Re: Stick Shift
Of course I do. When I started driving, I was 13 and was in Karachi.
My first car in USA was stick shift and that was just a co-incidence as I was looking for a used car at that time and this just came along as a good deal.
Re: Stick Shift
all men with latent momohexual feelings drive stick.
me too pal.
Re: Stick Shift
^ dude, I will never look at the stick shift the same way again. You just squeezed the fun out of stick shift
Re: Stick Shift
^ lol !!
I do know how to, i learned to drive stick when i first got my Integra, ever since I have not owned another manual car :D
Re: Stick Shift
What is a stick shift? are you guys talking about the gear? like automatic or manual?
Re: Stick Shift
manual = stick
auto = auto
Re: Stick Shift
ohh okk...
i have driven before...coz in SL for driving classes it is only manual... but i prefer auto
Re: Stick Shift
I want to learn manual but I don't know anyone here that owns one. So auto will do for now. :(
Re: Stick Shift
In the UK manuel is the most popular. It's a better drive especially if you want to race. Lol
Auto are for lazy people.
Re: Stick Shift
i used to drive stick shift cars in India when i used to live there...here of course, i drive auto but when i go to India, i can't muster enough courage to drive on Indian roads and thru city's chaotic traffic. i'm more scared of being beaten up by crowds in case i cause an accident and someone gets hurt. street justice is my worst fear there.
Re: Stick Shift
I don't drive a lot, much less an automatic.
But I have driven automatics and they are kinda confusing. The engine braking isn't as pronounced as in a stick, and the got me into trouble almost.
I'm coming behind this truck and I let off the gas but the car doesn't slow down a bit, crap. It took me a few milliseconds to realize this, then I dabbed the brakes a bit and it was fixed. With a stick you step on the brakes a lot less.
Re: Stick Shift
hmmm…
i can’t relate to that…i’ve been driving an automatic car for so long and i have no issues. you had power brakes?
Re: Stick Shift
^
When you come off the gas an auto car doesn't slow down. You have to touch the brakes is what I'm saying. The brakes were fine. It's just that I was new at driving an auto and I was tired.
Re: Stick Shift
oh ok…got it! :k:
Re: Stick Shift
Being cut off in an auto is less infuriating in my experience, because you don't have to downshift or anything.
And autos are much less fun on full throttle compared to sticks, so there's less of that too.
Re: Stick Shift
My first car was a stick shift. My current one is automatic, but I still drive manual whenever I visit Pakistan.
I can drive a manual, only had manual transmission cars until after I got married, so both of us can drive both cars.
Of course the whole automatic vs manual debate has changed now with tiptronic suspension. Best of both worlds and better than both. If its good enough to become the standard in formula 1, it is good enough for us mortals.
Re: Stick Shift
I like the manual one. the feeling of control is way better.
