Are there any stereotypes associated with you that you don’t like?
Re: Stereotypes
Im born and raised in Aus.. but i wear shalwar kameez all the time. Hate it when gorey think I'm a recent migrant. It's not until I speak that they realise that I'm a local

When you dress like a recent immigrant you can't blame gorey for thinking you are one.
Re: Stereotypes
hmm. my cousins and sisters call me 'dadi' because i lecture them, tell them to behave and dress conservatively. (orders frm the elders)
Re: Stereotypes
Yes. Life1 is full of those stereotypes.
Re: Stereotypes
Quiet or shy people...get stereotyped as rude. I've dealt with this a bazillion times and used to it now.

Everyone is an immigrant in Australia. There is no national dress code here, unless you count the red loin cloths the Aboriginals wore, It doesn't make me any less Australian

True. Combined with my smoldering good looks, people often mistakenly assume that I am stuck up. Sometimes, they call me proudy.
Re: Stereotypes
Quiet people..eh!. I find them interesting. Especially they have got great sense of humor. So while stereotype is there..bright side is..get to know people like that. They often have so much to say once they open up.
Re: Stereotypes
Oh if only most people thought that way! ^
Re: Stereotypes
I tend to be pretty social fella..especially among friends as well. And i have met people like that. key is to have them talk and make them feel comfortable.

I love that word! I wanna use it in real life someday...right along with friendy!!!

I envy social people...how do they do it? They know exactly what to say to who...have no issue starting conversations with people, smile and when they walk away..."omigosh such-and-such was soooo sweet".
But me? I am rude...:(
Re: Stereotypes
same here !!! Ever since i was in school ppl thought i was rude… but I just was sooo shy blimey could never get the courage to talk.
Recently .. party animal and alcoholic. I was kinda shocked when someone recently identified me by it, coz I only do both occasionally. And less compared to others. I blame FB for it. Pics are taken in fun and then they go up and ppl think that is all you do.![]()

Of course everyone is an immigrant in Australia. And of course there is no dress code there. That is true for the US as well.
However Shalwar Kameez is usually associated with recent immigrants because 80% of people who do wear Shalwar Kameez in public ARE recent immigrants. Therefore you can't blame a local Aussie for thinking that you belong to that group, because all they can go by is your appearance. The moment you open your mouth and say two words in Australian accent that perception is out of the window anyway. :)
