Interesting read.

LONDON — Physicist Stephen Hawking says God wasn’t necessary for the creation of the universe.

In his new book, “The Grand Design,” the British scientist says unraveling a complex series of theories will explain the universe. The book, written with American physicist and author Leonard Mlodinow, will be published Sept. 9.

In an extract published Thursday in The Times, Hawking wrote that it was “not necessary to invoke God.”

“The Universe can and will create itself from nothing,” Hawking wrote. “Spontaneous creation is the reason there is something rather than nothing, why the Universe exists, why we exist.”

In “A Brief History of Time,” Hawking had appeared to accept the possibility of a creator, saying the discovery of a complete theory would allow humans to “know the mind of God.”

Re: Stephen Hawking: God NOT Needed For Creation

I believe the time is near when science will have to recognize the presence and power of Allah SWT. Personally, I can't fathom how something as vast as the universe can come into existence on its own. I mean, the diameter of the universe is estimated to be at least 78 Billion light years. How big is that??!!

Re: Stephen Hawking: God NOT Needed For Creation

^:k: agree

Re: Stephen Hawking: God NOT Needed For Creation

If it is all about theorizing then what is the harm in theorizing existence of Allah on the premise that this big and complex universe cannot exist without a supreme being behind it.

Re: Stephen Hawking: God NOT Needed For Creation

Stephen Hawking is getting old and is totally losing it. I saw a program the other day where he was suggesting some total rubbish. I forget what it was...TLK remember?

Re: Stephen Hawking: God NOT Needed For Creation

The guy is 68, diagnosis of motor neurone disease came when Hawking was 21,and doctors said he would not survive more than two or three years. He survived more than 47 years. If anyone, he should be the biggest believer of God's presence.

Yes, that was that Aliens are not even there but they might already be around us on planet earth.

in 2009, he threw a party for Time Travels and sat in his home with balloons and a banner "welcome time travelers' and waited for them. Off course no Time Traveler from future showed up.

Yuo, he is turning into a crack pot and looking for cheap publicity.

Re: Stephen Hawking: God NOT Needed For Creation

Here I disagree with you. Hawking's reasoning is that the sheer numerical odds mean that aliens almost certainly exist. He also warned that we should try to keep away from them instead of trying to contact them. Very True.

I don't know about the party thing, but he once said if time travel was possible, why don't we have time travelers from the future? Needless to say he also has a very complex mathematical theory about time travel being impossible.

Re: Stephen Hawking: God NOT Needed For Creation

I am not saying that he is not a genius. But he is getting too much into being in lime light all the times and when he has nothing to do, he start throwing gimmicky news to get media attention.

Re: Stephen Hawking: God NOT Needed For Creation

Exactly. Looks like it's the same everywhere, Aik baar chaska lag jaye toh baas...

Re: Stephen Hawking: God NOT Needed For Creation

Sometimes we can observe what is happening put an equation to it and start to believe that this is the reason 'why' it is happening. The fact that the maths has been developed to show that it is possible for spontaneous creation, it does not come anywhere near to demonstrating that the spontaneous creation is from God or not. We believe that God is Ghaib (hidden), which means that we will not be able to 'see' the 'necessity' of God in our 'calculations' ... Again it does not mean that 'spontaneity of creation' necessitates the 'disbelief in Creator'.

This is Hawking's critical flaw ... I say with as much deliberation as he does, but without the 'claim' that I know anything of 'why' except by what I believe to have come from Divine sources.

Re: Stephen Hawking: God NOT Needed For Creation

this guy does'nt half talk a load of bull.

Re: Stephen Hawking: God NOT Needed For Creation

There are certain aspects of Life and Existance which are kept under the curtains

Not all horizons have been accomplished by the humans and neither will be

After all humara imaan he is baat per hai...

Allah nay bohut say raaz sirf upnay tak rakhay huay haen... jis ko sab gaeb ka ilm kehtay haen....

Re: Stephen Hawking: God NOT Needed For Creation

^ Agreed and some we will NEVER find out - nevertheless it is upto us to try to understand as much as we can (otherwise we wouldn't have invented internet!!)

I will bet $5 that his words are taken out of context by an stupid journalist (90% of the time they just want to submit an article - not really pursue the truth)

Re: Stephen Hawking: God NOT Needed For Creation

The power to create and re-create is a gift given to the universe and mankind by God....and it is a lie to say that the evolution of this power came from any other entity than God Himself.

And whats ironic is that God also gave humans the power to think and contemplate and made us the most intelligent beings and now humans are using that very intelligence to question the existence of the Supreme creator himself.

Re: Stephen Hawking: God NOT Needed For Creation

Hawking is a genius who doesn't believe in the God fairytale and thinks logically instead of being brainwashed by the ridiculousness of religion. and by the way, motor neuron disease doesn't affect intellect at all..

Re: Stephen Hawking: God NOT Needed For Creation

Now that is a logic I never heard of before.

Re: Stephen Hawking: God NOT Needed For Creation

Man am I excited, the book is available from today, I am picking up my copy from the local Barnes & Nobles tonight.

Re: Stephen Hawking: God NOT Needed For Creation

any reason why God is keeping this guy alive yet killing thousands of believers in floods?

Re: Stephen Hawking: God NOT Needed For Creation

It almost sound like an argument towards the existence of God.

Re: Stephen Hawking: God NOT Needed For Creation

ha ha

you are talking to boss over the posts…

yet again.. :omg:
