Staying Positive

So i’ve been quietly reading the parenting section for a while, and I thought it’s time for me to share as well.

My Husband and I have been ttc for over a year. We’ve been seeing a fertility specialist for the past 7 5 months and are recieving treatments but it just seems like nothing is working. I always thought that it would happen, no longer how long it took one day when the time was right I would be a mother, but lately I can’t help but think what if this is something that will never happen for me.

I’m a private person so the few close people I’ve told keep telling me to stay positive, just relax, and it’ll happen…or they tell me stories about a friend of a friend or a khala or a co-worker who all of a sudden got pregnant by relaxing and thinking positively.

I don’t doubt their stories, but ladies how do you stay positive?

Re: Staying Positive

I always hated those condescending "relax and stay positive" attitudes. Sheesh, my ovaries were SHUT DOWN...so no matter how positive my attitude, it had abso-friggin-lootely NOTHING to do with ovarian function or hormone levels. I had to inject myself with powerful hormones to get my ovaries to function...and no matter HOW happy you are, if youhave zero ovarian function, the only way to get them going is to medically treat the problem. NOT smile at it and hope it goes away.

Re: Staying Positive

:hugz:

Been there,done that…
I always hated that statements ‘stay positive’…I hardly was able to stay calm and relax and smile when I wanted to cry my heart out…
but still, all I can say is that it will happen Inshallah…
It happened for us after years Alhumdullilah…
It should give hope to anyone…hang in there, may Allah swt bless you with what your heart desires…

Re: Staying Positive

^ exactly...I know people have the best of intentions, but it annoys me. I haven't gotten to the shots yet. So far two cycles of clomid.

Awe thanks, I think deep down I know it will happen but lately its driving me crazy

Re: Staying Positive

I an understand how you feel...i feel the same

Re: Staying Positive

Awe Sahar that nice. Hopefuly this cycle of clomid does the charm, but if it doesn't I'll talk to my doctor about injections

Re: Staying Positive

Ramsha, prayers for you and everyone who is trying.

Re: Staying Positive

Going through same thing....May Allah Bless all of us with lil ones.....Ameen!

Re: Staying Positive

Hang in there ladies, iA we'll all have good news to share and may Allah give us all sabr through this process. I wish none of us were going through this but I am comforted knowing I am not along and that I can come to Parenting to share my feelings.

If anyone is in Toronto, FYI good friend of mine at work recently started seeing an acupuncture fertility specialist- he's quite famous in the city for being successful with his treatment- his name is Dr. David Bray, if anyone is interested in looking him up. Have any of you considered an alternative therapy to Clomid and injections?

Re: Staying Positive

^ If the cycle we conceived hadn't worked, I was planning to take a break from all the crazy treatments, and try accupuncture and yoga. My body was going through way too much. I may consider it in the future. My RE was affiliated with a place called "Pulling Down the Moon" which specializes in this stuff.

Re: Staying Positive

i also have two cycles of clomid still no progress but still faith in GOD helps me keep myself positive at times when i get worried i just say to my heart that GOD is taking my test................ this helps me a lot may GOD bless everyone n inshahallah pretty soon everyone who is trying will get good news................ameen

Re: Staying Positive

for those ladies...who have gone the traditional route... pls do give alternative therapy and medicine a shot....sometimes ur body is tired with all the conventional medicines and the moment your body gets another way ...it is it..... lots of examples around me and I myself am an example of that..... may Allah bless you all with aulaad soon aameen....

Re: Staying Positive

^ what kind of treatment did you opt for, automne? was it homeopathic or did you try acupuncture? apart from being mA successful, how did you find the experience?

Re: Staying Positive

Re: Staying Positive

Best wishes, Ramsha!

SGC,

I went the diet route to regulate my hormones which were basically causing havoc in my life.... I went to see a herbalist and he overhauled my complete diet depending on what my body needed at what time.... first thing he does do for most ppl was make them cut out refined sugars, carbs, coke and all that other stuff.... and believe me that made a whole lot of difference internally ....externally I didn't lose any kilos.....but I felt lighter and my life improved.....

Western medicine made me believe that I don't need a BM every day but once my diet was modified ... my body was letting go of everything that was not being used.... it really was an amazing and different experience.....

TOUGH but I stuck to it and that has made all the difference...and doctors were all about focusing on the conceiving part no one was willing to listen to other part which was that my hormones were out of whack....

And I did research on the stuff he was giving me to eat turns out most of it is recommended in herbal medicines, like meat is supposed to up your iron levels, cinnamon, cloves help regulate hormones .... and so on.... and the whole thing of eating fruits that garam or tanda asar.... on your body

my advice to all you ladies ..... do try it...if only you give urself a time limit of 3-6 months....sometimes all ur body needs is a break from clomid and all that other stuff.... to get working on its own....

Automne, what foods did you cut out of your diet

For acupuncture, do you have to find a special fertility acupuncturist, or just a regular one will do

I started seeing this naturopath....just for the heck of it...no specific reason at all....More like I was curious to see what this is all about and it doesn't hurt since my work insurance covers it (otherwise they tend to be expensive...like they charged $180 for first consultation and $120 for every subsequent visit)....She's a ND (Naturopathic Doctor).

**Long story short....she said the same things as your herbalist automne77...she also mentioned that over time we consume so much processed stuff that our bodies go outta sync...and to get things flowing naturally it is good too cut down on refined sugars and carbs. She also told me to quit dairy and try alternates like Soy, Almond or Rice Milk....Dairy including milk, cheese, butter and yogurt...have a "wet" effect on the body and slow down the over all digestion, energy and blood flow. Too proteins like red meat and chicken every day is not good either.

She also recommended quitting bananas (good thing I am not too fond of them anyway)...chalking up to same "wet/sticky" effect. :p :p :p She is all about veggies, pulses, fish and other lighter fruits...plus chicken/red meat once or twice a week. Balanced diet and lots of water!!! This not only makes your body in-sync, it also helps with PMS which is direct result of hormonal imbalance. Ideally (if you have perfectly balanced hormones) your periods should be a breeze. You should not get any of the commonly mentioned symptoms.

Other than that it all helps in energy flow and digestion as well....so it's more like a body overhaul!
