Status of woman in Hindu religion

Re: Status of woman in Hindu religion

Thanks for information! I did not know that Arabs respect their women.

Re: Status of woman in Hindu religion

Anjan,

If you read on the same front, Hindu religious texts also glorify women. For eg. if you read Soundarya Lahari, lalitha Sahasranamam etc you can see that we worship Goddess and they are defined as the most powerful.

I think women's status in the society started to degrade maybe 1000 years ago after the invasions from the other countries started. Also, more and more women were looked up as "assets" and symbol of "honour" for different families, tribes and castes. This led the men to become more and more protective and inturn suppress the women.

//Glory be to the divine form (thiruvuru) of Meenakshi, who adorns malaydhvaja pANDya like excellent bangles adorning a person. How are we to describe it ? As the red hue (lustre) of a thousand crore suns shining all at once ? Or the brilliance of a column of rubies (mANikka pizambu) ? Or the lasting redness of fragrant kumkumam ? How wonderful ! //

Re: Status of woman in Hindu religion

Victory ....

In India in public transport I have often seen that no one bothers to offer a seat even to a pregnant lady......

Can you call it a 'respect'? Why our culture has such a bad taste? Or you blame the Muslim invaders for that? How?

Re: Status of woman in Hindu religion

Till now anjjan and company have not been able to defend a single thing I have said

Re: Status of woman in Hindu religion

I will repeat, I wish you knew islam. In other words, you THINK you know islam.

Igot this one, there is nothing like learning hindu religion. Whatever one like to do, one does and calls himself hindu.

What good studying do if one does not learn it???

I got it. Its not a religion and its not a way of life and its not something to learn! Thats what you meant.

Same thing, an aethist has no religion and so does a hindu in your opinion.

yes no bindings on daily life. Just do whatever you want.

yes we would rather make money, work and die but before that…kill other religion followers. We have no time to read all this ‘stuff’!!

I understood exactly whatt you said.

Re: Status of woman in Hindu religion

vah, so why doesn’t this huge percentage of the religion’s followers start reading and learning about it as well?

or maybe they have?

Re: Status of woman in Hindu religion

Somehow, opponents do manage to derail the topic.

if one says, hindu religion has some peoblem, they start talking about islam...instead of coming up with an answer.

Re: Status of woman in Hindu religion

yes and huge percentage of religion followers have read and learned from it. What’s your problem? You keep looking for excuses to ridicule islam.

Re: Status of woman in Hindu religion

The above two posts are marvelous. I would like to see if anyone can contradict them.
I cannot, because I do not understand what is there to contradict.

Re: Status of woman in Hindu religion

^ No doubt, Deedawar has answered exactly the way it needed. Whatever he has written is exactly how things are.

And Anjjan, you have not been able to talk about the arguments agiants Hinduism. You have not even dared to handle one single issue. Instead of defending Hinduim, you do the following

  1. Totally ignore the quote from Hindu book.
  2. Deny it altogether, absolute denial.
  3. Start asking the website link, book publisher, etc when you yourself do not know what does the quoted verse say in reality(Most hilarious of your defense machanism :hehe: )
  4. Try turning the table over
  5. Derail the topic
  6. Ask a question over another one without answering the question of the opponent.
  7. Out of a big post, only pick up one small little sentence that you can use to fullfill the above purpose and ignore the rest
  8. Start counter attack by producing baseless arguments against Islam

Lets see what other tactics you’d use to EVADE the embarassment you feel whenever we talk about Hinduism…

Re: Status of woman in Hindu religion

Dear intelligent friend…I have already told you that if I had spent some of beautiful years of my childhood at a Hindu madrisa, I could run for explanations, excuses and might have asked you to read proper context, meet a good Hindu etc…

With you I have only one option…write down your selective reply and I will endorse it. This is the only way to satisfy an intelligent person like you.
You know what I mean.

Re: Status of woman in Hindu religion

^

Tactic # 9) Stop arguing, write sarcastically that I endorse your point of view. In other words, as the British say, "Give a dog a bone"

Re: Status of woman in Hindu religion

Do enjoy the bone! I have no objection.

Re: Status of woman in Hindu religion

Tactic # 10) Become stubborn, but never give any answer.

Re: Status of woman in Hindu religion

As we are talking about “Status of Women in Hinduism” there is not need of dragging in other topics and derailing the actual issue. Now tell me do you call it respect.

HINDUISM SAYS WOMEN ARE LIKE WHORES BY NATURE

Hinduism’s holy dharmasastra teaches that women are like whores and sluts by nature like the bimbo goddess Indrani
RigVeda 10:86:6

“Good looks do not matter to them, nor do they care about youth; ‘A man!’ they say, and enjoy sex with him, whether he is good-looking or ugly. By running after men like whores, by their fickle minds, and by their naturallack of affection these women are unfaithful to their husbands even when they are zealously guarded here. Knowing that their very own nature is like this, as it was born at the creation by the Lord of Creatures (Prajapati), a man should make the utmost effort to guard them. The bed and the seat, jewellery, lust, anger, crookedness, a malicious nature, and bad conduct are what Manu assigned to women. There is no ritual with Vedic verses for women; this is a firmly established point of law. For women, who have no virile strength, and no Vedic verses, are falsehood; this is well established.”
Manusmrti 9:14-18

Re: Status of woman in Hindu religion

How many Hindus we can find who will endorse that whatever is written in religious scriptures is correct and applicable?

This is the difference that Hindus are not stubborn.

Ps, I am enjoying the texts...never read before, alas if we had a Madrisa system for minors and block mindedly I could defend these scriptures!

Re: Status of woman in Hindu religion

^ Never heard it before !!! Surprising for me… Okay, good education for you at this website.
Why don’t you open Manusamriti NOW and understand all the Laws.

PS. It does not mean if there is something wrong with Hidnuism, there has to be a reciprocatory problem with Islam too.

Nice reply. Need to be written in golden fonts on any hindu’s textbook.

Re: Status of woman in Hindu religion

^ See how they go on to hibernate when the truth is hown to them

Re: Status of woman in Hindu religion

We have a saying for those who study but not learn!....
Parh Likh kar gadhe par laad Diya!:)
