Famous TV actor Zill e Subhan died in early 90’s. His famous dramas include Nishan e Haider (playing Major Tufail Shaheed brilliantly), Shaheen (amazing performance in the role christian knight whose daughter fell in love with a Muslim soldier), Suraj ke sath sath (amazing performance)
He was a legendary director, who did marvels in producing PTV Classic dramas. His famous work includes Waris, Waqt, Raat, Pyas, Eendhan, Ghulam Gardish.
(First three episodes of Waris were directed by: Ghazanfar Ali)
^ Nusrat Thakur - a legend indeed. He produced some of the best plays on PTV, his drama Pyas is one of those few great plays that talked about Sufism and spirituality in a wonderful way through some very well written dialogs by Asgher Nadeem Syed.
Anyone knows about PTV directors Rashid Daar & Yawar Hayaat. I tried to find recent news for these directors, but couldn't succeed.
I saw Rashid Dar in PTV's anniversary function at PTV Lahore station in Nov 2009. Regarding Yawar Hayat I am also wondering where has he gone? In my memory lastly I saw him in the Rahein drama function which was shown after completion of Rahein drama in 1998. Yawar Hayat was a gem of a director. He alongwith Muhammad Nisar Hussain (RIP) produced masterpieces from PTV Lahore Center and they were mentors for directors like Nusrat Thakur (RIP), Rashid Dar, Ayub Khawar etc. Lets hope and pray that both Rashid Dar and Yawar Hayat are in good health.
Sultan Khan acted as director in famous PTV play Rozee. I think he was killed by terrorists during the time when Karachi was going through a tough time in the 90s.
does anyone recall a teleplay on PTV (early 90s) in which sultan khan played a mechanic who helps out a woman stranded on the road. She frequents his car repair shop to have her car fixed and he falls in love with her. when she decides to marry someone else he laments that no one else can make her happy and that he alone can fulfill her "muraad". she still decides to get married and moves aboard. fast forward 8 years she returns to pakistan, childless. someone suggests a pir to cure her infertility and vola it's the mechanic. in the background you hear him lament that he alone can fulfill her "muraad".
I was a kid when i saw this but the story is stuck in my head. does anyone know the name?
^ The concept and story seems familiar, but I can't remember the name. It was probably a drama from 'Tele-Theatre' series. The suitable name for drama is "Muraad".
