Its been long that she didn’t act in any drama, but she is still alive in memories of TV viewers due to her powerful performances.
I think she was last seen in Umera Ahmed’s ‘Man o Salwa’.
She had many memorable performances on her credit, which we will try to highlight in this thread.

She now lives in Australia with her children and Man o Salwa was picturised there. She also did a couple of other projects of Umera Ahmed including 'Amar Bail' directed by Sakina Sammo and a long play 'Sauda'. Her last projects also included 'Tujh pe Qurban' by Faiza Iftikhar. Don't remember which project was her last.

The talented actress started her career from Ashfaq Ahmed’s series Qila Kahani telecasted in 1970s.
Her first remarkable performance was in Amjad Islam Amjad’s Waris, where she played Zakia - A modern and independent lady from feudal family.

she is fit for evil mother type roles like in zulfiqar sheik's drama MAA , Maqam starring Shamil khan and ayesha khan and in Man-o-salwa

she is versatile actress. May be strong characters suits her, but she did amazing job in maskeen type roles. Basically she knows how to use face expressions. You might have known / heard Shahzad Khalil’s masterpiece Panah (a drama based on Afghan refugees). The make-up artist of Panah got PTV Award for Uzma Gilani’s make-up and there was no make at all. It was all expressions, she just used 3 dots of Kajal on her chin

No doubt she is a great actress, when you start hating an evil character it means that the actor/actress has done his/her job.

right, she is very kind and down to earth personality in real life and doing roles like this is the her actual talent.
Lately, I watched this masterpiece from Ashfaq Ahmed’s series ‘Aur Dramay’. The story is so gripping and Uzma Gilani did an amazing job in the role of a woman who wants to get her sons graves pakki and her search for funding.

The versatile actress did very selected projects in her career and unfortunately most of her brilliant performances are not available anywhere. Here are some of her classic performances, which got extinct and if available to the viewers they will know how talented the lady is.
She played a beggar in Asad Muhammad Khan’s **‘Badalte Qalib’ **directed by Sahira Kazmi. She kidnaps a colleague girl (played by Huma Akbar). Her line when terrorizing the girl on bus stop ‘Laali Chaar aana de’ was popular line of its era.
She played a feudal lady from Potohar region in Saleem Chishti’s ‘Nasheman’ . Her accent of Potohari language surprised the viewers. She later disclosed that she learned and excelled in the accent by interacting with a supporting actor who played a small role of Munshi to the feudal lady in the serial. The drama had huge star cast. Rohi Bano playing daughter to Uzma Gilani and Khalida Riyasat and Asif Raza Mir played grandchildren.
She played role of brave lady who got executed pretending to be the queen of England in play ‘Pagli’ from Rashid Dar’s series "Tareekhi Khel’. Only one play ‘deewana’ from the series is available online.

well back from all election hallagulla, Uzma gillani is my most favourite tv actress after khalida riaysat. My favourites of uzma gillani are badalte qalib, panah, waris, aur dramay, be-waris etc.

well back from all election hallagulla, Uzma gillani is my most favourite tv actress after khalida riaysat. My favourites of uzma gillani are badalte qalib, panah, waris, aur dramay, be-waris etc.

In late 80s, during Benazir Bhutto’s first tenure, Shahid Mehmood Nadeem came up with serial ‘Neele Hath’ hilighting suppression and exploitation of ladies during Zia regime. The story revolves around a political activist Nabeela (played by Madeeha Gohar - Shahid Nadeem’s wife in real life) who has to go to jail for her political agenda, where she meets different woman prisoners who became victim of Hudood ordinance, honor killing, etc.
Uzma Gilani played a modern lady who was exploited by husband in smuggling business and when caught she is disowned by her husband. A powerful performance in small role.

She was also business partner of Asif Raza Mir.

Yes she fought against this mortal disease and over come . I think that was in 90s when she go through this phase. She came back after a long time in Asghar Nadeem Syed’s Alao, where she gave a stellar performance in role of poor lady who got refuge in Daar ul Aman and after many years leave the Daar ul Aman to meet her son and daughter.
Yes she had a successful career of running an advertising agency.

yes she has cancer and she was a patient in shaukat khanum memorial cancer hospital at a time. She is a great admirer of Imran khan.
She started an advertising agency with asif raza mir in karachi which became crashed after a short good period.

Is the Be-waris same play where a group of tribal ladies agitate against males of the tribe. The cast also included Shariqa Fatima.
