Re: Sri Lanka v Pakistan, 1st Test, Galle

welcome back...i have not seen you @ GS for a while.

Re: Sri Lanka v Pakistan, 1st Test, Galle

Thanks PD. just been busy with other things... visit to Pakistan + work commitments

Re: Sri Lanka v Pakistan, 1st Test, Galle

SL 174/2

Re: Sri Lanka v Pakistan, 1st Test, Galle

A draw... unless Pakistani Batting line can do what it does best... collapse in 3rd innings

Re: Sri Lanka v Pakistan, 1st Test, Galle

With 2 days remaining SL still trail by 200 runs. Mahela, Sanga and Mathews have the highest averages in 2014. It has draw written all over it.

Re: Sri Lanka v Pakistan, 1st Test, Galle

Have they started playing 3 innings?

Re: Sri Lanka v Pakistan, 1st Test, Galle

Yes, but they also renamed the game to baseball :(

Re: Sri Lanka v Pakistan, 1st Test, Galle

I have no idea why they keep persisting with that Ahmed Shehzad of a failure ?? He has never delivered other than an inning against Bangladesh.
He must have some strong sifarish definitely.

Keep him and the likes in the team and I bet that this team won't make the first round of next world cup. Lack of quality fast bowlers in the team also shows there is no backup plan and all 3rd class bowlers who have no steam in them.

Even if they draw these tests it does not mean much in terms of progress for the Pakistani team.
How long do they plan to rely on the oldies such as ajmal, younis khan, misbah?

Re: Sri Lanka v Pakistan, 1st Test, Galle

^ They think he is better than Fawad Alam

Re: Sri Lanka v Pakistan, 1st Test, Galle

Sangakkara is a beast

Re: Sri Lanka v Pakistan, 1st Test, Galle

Drop catch on first ball :smack: which will cost a lot **

80.1**
Junaid Khan to Sangakkara, 1 run, dropped first ball! This is a an overhead dolly! Full and swinging away from the batsman, Sanga goes after it, plays it away from the body and slices it straight to point, where Rehman has all the time to prepare it, but just fluffs this chance

80.2
Junaid Khan to Jayawardene, FOUR, outside edge as Mahela stays back to a length delivery, he gets squared up in his defence and it flies through the cordon..no third slip

What an explosive start to the day!

80.3
Junaid Khan to Jayawardene, no run, this one beats the outside edge as the batsman plays for swing, but there is none.. it keeps going away with the angle

80.4
Junaid Khan to Jayawardene, OUT, this is out! This is definitely out! Junaid gets one to curl into Mahela, it pitched on middle and swings in to hit him right in front, but the umpire gives it not out. What!! That looked out straightaway. Junaid goes for the review. It’s hitting the off bail! That is out. I wonder what the umpire, Ian Gould, was thinking when he saw it in real time. That was as plumb as it gets. No century for Mahela then
DPMD Jayawardene lbw b Junaid Khan 59 (112b 7x4 0x6) SR: 52.67

More firecrackers at the ground, but they seem to be a bit ill-timed.. Angelo Mathews walks in through the smoke. He knows a thing or two about purple patch. But this is some over from Junaid - he could have had three wickets in four balls

80.5
Junaid Khan to Mathews, no run, gets this one to angle away, Angelo stays back, gets up on his toes and defends it down the pitch

80.6
Junaid Khan to Mathews, no run, fuller delivery going away from the batsman who comes forward in defence, it takes the outside half of the bat to gully

Superb first over from Junaid. Can Talha keep the tempo up?

Re: Sri Lanka v Pakistan, 1st Test, Galle

And that is lunch. Still no change in the pattern of the game - one wicket lost, decent amount of runs scored, nothing for the bowlers.. absolutely nothing. The new ball showed it's magic only for one over and Junaid was very unlucky not to pick Sanga - Rehman dropped him at point off the first ball. He did pick up the wicket of Mahela though, with a beautiful inswinger. No joy for the bowlers since then.

Re: Sri Lanka v Pakistan, 1st Test, Galle

Ajmal is clueless here :(

112.1
Mohammad Talha to Mathews, FOUR, short and wide, it's asking to be hit and Angelo obliges, punching it through extra cover and reaching his half-century.. God he is in some form

Re: Sri Lanka v Pakistan, 1st Test, Galle

I am expecting same kind of wicket in next test to giving farewell to MJ.

Re: Sri Lanka v Pakistan, 1st Test, Galle

SL 353/3

Another high scoring boring draw coming up.

Re: Sri Lanka v Pakistan, 1st Test, Galle

Re: Sri Lanka v Pakistan, 1st Test, Galle

Talha is a wayward bowler, a trundler who bowls too many loose balls. He has been serving garbage ball after ball and needs to be axed. Bouncers at that pace (128-130 kph) won't trouble the batsman.

The draw is still favourite but the only team that can win this test now is Lanka esp. if (as seems likely) they bat all day today and take a lead of 120-150

We know our legendary batting; they can crack under pressure on the most docile tracks like no other team in world cricket. Strange things have been known to happen on a worn out 5th day pitch..Herath could come into the equation

Shehzad bowling like a proper spinner

Re: Sri Lanka v Pakistan, 1st Test, Galle

It is a flat track and yorkers or reverse swing should be the order of the day not bouncers..
