Sri Lanka to train Pak army

It seems finally Pakistan army is getting the required help to combat the terrorists … hope with proper training and tactics they are able to defeat the. Perhaps this is what Hillary Clinton had mentioned when she said that India should help Pakistan … but i guess considering the situation in Pakistan that is not possible … so this is the next best thing …

COLOMBO: Following the victory of the Sri Lankan army over the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), a militant outfit once considered by many as an invincible force, Pakistan has asked Sri Lanka to provide training to its military personnel.

The government of Pakistan wants the Sri Lankan military to train its personnel in counter-insurgency operations, the Commander of the Sri Lankan Army, Lt-Gen Jagath Jayasuriya, told journalists on Thursday.
He said several other countries had also sought information about the strategy and tactics adopted by the Sri Lankan armed forces to decimate the LTTE in just three years of intense fighting.
Pakistan helped Sri Lanka fight the LTTE by supplying arms when other countries had put an embargo on arms sales to the country.
Adm Wasantha Karannagoda, a former naval chief who is currently the National Security Adviser, had said at an international naval seminar in the UK that the strategies and tactics used by the Sri Lankan navy to tackle the LTTE’s naval arm could be of use to other navies because in the conflicts of the future navies would be facing not battleships and destroyers but small and fast boats of non-state rogue navies which could be indulging in insurgencies, piracies and trafficking of various kinds

Re: Sri Lanka to train Pak army

Well it makes sense really. Indians supported the Tamil Tigers. Sri Lanka crushed them with Pakistani weapons.

India supports the Taliban and cohorts. We will use the Sri Lankan know how to crush them as well. There is no negative side to this. Sri Lanka and Pakistan become closer pushing the Indian factor out of the equation.

[

You mean the same Elite Indian commandos who took 3 days to overpower 10 intruders in Mumbai. We need efficient forces to train our armed forces in combating terrorists not some incompetent rag tags.](“http://www.dawn.com/wps/wcm/connect/dawn-content-library/dawn/news/world/12-sri+lanka+to+train+pak+army--bi-08”)

Lolzzzzzzzzzz ..A very funny statement.Had India not banned the L.T.T.E and scuttled them, the armed struggle for Tamil Nationalism would not have been over.

Srilanka can never think about any military co-operation without considering India.India was apprehensive in aiding Srilanka militarily because a large section of Tamil diaspora would oppose to it and it would have serious implications.

Just realize what had started the down fall of the L.T.T.E?It was not Pakistani weapons or the U.S Marines trained the Srilankan Army personnel but it was the end of logistic, financial and arms flow from India.

Considering the fact that your esteemed military and security agencies could not even capture one terrorist who attacked the Sri Lankan cricketers it is no wonder that your armed forces requires training.

Wrong statement. Those gunmen had taken unarmed civilians hostages and it was difficult for the commandos to launch an operation without causing the loss of lives of the people.

Still they did their job in style.

Any trained attacker ,if blended in to crowd, can easily get away.thats what happened in Lahore attack.Have not you seen the attackers simply walked away through the cross roads near liberty Market and then rode away on their bikes?.Till date non of them has been caught.

Why should have been the Russian special forces waited for days to over power the Chechan guerillas during the 2002 Miscow theatre siege? The terrorists had taken people hostages and it was difficult for the Russian authoritis to launch an operation in to that theatre, without causing the lives of it's nationals.

LOL, you really do live in a dream world.

Read Arleitter's post, and try to join the real world

:omg:

I still remember how some Pakistani posters were jumping up & down claiming SL had defeated LTTE due to the support & training they had received from Pak fauj.

Looks like reality is pretty different :hehe:

They have been doing perfectly fine without help so far…

As for India, why would we need help from a country that can hardly prevent its own people from turning in terrorsits at the drop of a hat…

lol… If we wanted lessons in how not to prevent a “terrorsit” attack, the Indians would be the first choice im sure…:hehe:

Re: Sri Lanka to train Pak army

That's great!! Sri Lankan forces are battle-hardened and have fought long and hard in a difficult terrain by a militia which was virtually funded and armed by the world's "largest democracy" for the longest.

We can surely share, and learn tactics. what worked for them, might work for us as well.

Just another step to closer relationships between the two nations, and India can keep whining all it wants. No one gives two ****s about what it approves or disapproves. :)

I think the first thing Pak fauj needs to learn from the SL army is how to stand up to terrorists and not surrender to them. The rest will follow…:hehe:

The training provided by your elite forces to terrorists in those 14 consulates was obviosuly not good enough as the pak army whipped their asses in Swat and elsewhere in weeks.

Unlike some forces which need 3 days to overpower 10 armed men or have been struggling to control an upsrising for over 20 years now in kashmir. :omg:

This Punjabi doesnt seem to read the news very often. :hehe: Infact he seems to have missed the entire last 2 months!

Tell that to the people in SWAT…

The same forces could not even capture one terrorist who attacked the Sri Lankan cricketers..top that.

Also since you government had extreme confidence in your army’s ability they went ahead and signed the peace agreement with these so called Indian Trained Terrorists…

Thats what delusional Pakistanis claim. We have never boasted about “training” the Afghans :hehe: If your fauj surrendered to them even without them having received training from India, imagine what would happen if we trained them. 1971 ring a bell for you ???

Yeah, 10 armed cowards from Pakistan hiding behind women & children. I am sure they would have been given the Nishan-e-Haidar if our forces hadn’t given them a one way ticket to hell :omg:

Not only you get training from SL forces, you also get air support from your friend Amrica. Isnt that wonderful. How good is Pakistan forces really!!!
Only Pakistanies can boast about their country’s forces when they cannot maintain law and order within their own international border. Not only that they allow 10 people to arm themselves to the tooth and get training in their own country and sent them to the neighboring country to kill innocents. The best part is the Pakistanies come here and then boast that these cowards killed 200 innocents.

Re: Sri Lanka to train Pak army

To those crying friends in this thread,

Had India not maimed and destroyed the arms flow in to North Eastern Lanka

Had India not dealt with `Kittu’(Sadasivam Krishnakumar)…

Had India not cracked down L.T.T.E operatives and moles operated in T.N and other parts of the region

Had we not kept a silence over repeated pleas of Mr.Prabhakaran and other leadres of L.T.T.E

Had we not patrolled Indian naval boundaries and Gulf of mannar and given tip-offs and alerts to S.L Nay…

The history of Tamil Eelam would have been different…

(Remember operation Poomalai)… That will tell the stories…

Interestingly people in Colombo do not access GS :hehe:.So you do not have much support.

Re: Sri Lanka to train Pak army

most of the weapons and ammunition that former LTTE had was of China made

the most interesting thing is Srilanka army were also trained in India and now they are training Pakistan army, so India is helping Pakistan - lol !
