Mushtaq likely to be included in national squad, says Shahryar
By Abdul Jabbar Faisal
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Shahryar Mohammad Khan Friday said that leg spinner Mushtaq Ahmad might get a place in the England-bound national squad that would play four-Test and five one day international series starting from July 13. Shahryar was talking to reporters at the Parliament House here after attending a meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Sports and Culture. PCB director board operations Abbas Zaidi was also present on the occasion. “The injuries to our main bowlers Shoaib Akhtar and Rana Navedul Hasan are a bit unsettling and we are thinking along the lines of balancing the attack by turning to Mushtaq for the Tests,” Shahryar added.
The 35-year-old Mushtaq, who has taken 185 wickets in 52 Tests and 161 in 144 one-day matches, has not played for Pakistan since October 2003 against South Africa. He was included in the Test squad for last year’s home series against England but did not play a match and was then appointed as a bowling consultant. Mushtaq has been bowling well for his English county Sussex. “His form for them has been outstanding and he clearly relishes bowling in English conditions.” Shahryar said a final decision regarding inclusion of Mushtaq would be made after analyzing the conditions in England. “Danish Kaneria is our Shane Warne and Mushtaq is Stuart MacGill and both will be used according to need,” he maintained.
Shahryar said he had made the PCB a corruption free sports organisation of the country and no one can point a finger on it. To a question, he replied the PCB was in a process of taking control of the stadiums in various cities. “A sub committee of Capital Development Authority (CDA) is viewing the conditions and legal arrangements of leasing out a land to the PCB for construction of a stadium in Islamabad,” he said.
The PCB chief said star batsman Mohammad Yousaf had apologized for criticizing the PCB and describing women’s cricket team un-Islamic in an interview with a TV channel. “Yousaf has tendered apology and the board has accepted it.” He said the PCB affairs were running smoothly and no major change would take place in the board’s administration ahead of World Cup.

I am pretty sure that Yousef will soon become Uncle Yousef and take an early retirement from Cricket
Re: Squad for Pakistan team tour to England
What in......how in the world did that happen?
Although the expectation would be that a senior spokesman from women's cricket team would reply back in a stern yet polite manner and also to 'prevent their brains from falling out', but given the male dominant culture and the ever-increasing population of Mullahs from every nook and corner of galli mohallas of Pakistan, it will most likely be turned into one-sided issue with a typical 'gender vs. gender' war as the latter will hold the opposite's collective voices down while stooping to all-new heights.
Yes. Not a first-time exactly. I am now ready to drag my dead carcass across the globe and have myself fed by those power-hungry Mullahs.

Samiullah to replaceNaved as 16th player
LAHORE, June 23: Uncapped left-arm medium-pacer Samiullah Niazi would replace injured Rana Navedul Hasan in England, Pakistan captain Inzamamul Haq said on Friday.
Shoaib Akhtar was the second choice but was not selected as doctors advised him to rest.
“Doctors did not allow Shoaib to start bowling so Samiullah will go to England as the 16th player,” Inzamam said.
Naved is currently in England for check-up and probably needs surgery to get rid of groin injury.
The skipper said leg-spinner Mushtaq Ahmed was also considered to replace Rana but preference was given to Samiullah due to suitable English conditions for fast bowlers.
Inzamam was hopeful that Shoaib Akhtar would regain fitness before start of the second Test and join the team.
He said a tough competition was expected in the series even though both the teams were facing injuries.

Re: Squad for Pakistan team tour to England
On the positive side, Rao Mcgrath Anjum is still not included, even Samiullah Khan is better than him or Mushtaq Ahmad for that matter :)

Oh No - he doesn't look any better then Rao. The lads from the under 19 are far better prospects and talented then this Niazi. I don't think Niazi would get a regular place in the county side. His incusion shows the quality of the reserve bowlers in Pakistan.
Re: Squad for Pakistan team tour to England
Atleast Samiullah has performed much much better in our own domestic batsmen against whom neither Sami (apart from his usuall occasional burst) nor Rao were able to perform.
Re: Squad for Pakistan team tour to England
Samiullah is not an express bowler but he is a good swing bowler...keeps a good line and length. Also, he brings in the much needed variaty in the bowling attack as he is a left handed bowler...and is MUCH better than Mohammad Khalil. I would love to see either him or Shahid Nazir get a chance in the English conditions.
Re: Squad for Pakistan team tour to England
From the reports of Mushtaq Ahmed under consideration to be included in the National team to Inzamam backing the selection of Samiullah Niazi, The News came up with their own version:
“Selection committee not Inzamam will pick 16th man” - Wasim Bari
The drama continues. What will the next episode contain? Tune in to find out.
Re: Squad for Pakistan team tour to England
I was just watching GEO news and they were showing report on the Pakistan team ldeparting for England.
Zaheer Abbass says Niazi is included in the squad, Inzamam says only 15 players are going, Woolmer says something. Whats going on don't they management talk to each other or don't know whats happening?
Re: Squad for Pakistan team tour to England
I think Pakistani batsmen will easily handle Monty, I would even go as far as saying that they will unsettle him easily. What's the news on Ashley Giles?
:)
