How do they adjust when one of the spouse is book loving and other one is not interested in books?
I mean when one is spending time in reading books, the other might consider it as getting ignored.
Any observations / experiences? Please share.

Re: Spouse of a Book Loving Person?
Balance is the key :)
Re: Spouse of a Book Loving Person?
But how do they (book loving people) keep that balance. What are the indications of 'enough is enough'?
Re: Spouse of a Book Loving Person?
You keep aside a particular time for the book and ALL your free time doesn't go to books.

But sometimes you find a book taht you want to complete in one go, without being interrupted. Do married people lose this right?
Re: Spouse of a Book Loving Person?
oh no…you just reminded to ask my fiance about this. i dunno how i will handle this if she is a bookworm.
something totally opposite between us.
-she studied at BHU [Banaras Hindu University] while i studied at AMU AligaRh Muslim University
-she has a PhD in Hindi Literature while i have one in Plant Sciences
-i’ve good Urdu accent while she has a good Hindi accent
-she has a bad Urdu accent while i’ve a bad Hindi accent
-she works for the Indian Foreign Services while i work for a Canadian employer.

Re: Spouse of a Book Loving Person?
I don’t think so.
The couple doesn’t need to spend every single minute they’re together talking or cuddling with each other. Just being in the room with the person is sometimes enough.
I’m a book worm, I love reading books and I want to read books. I don’t need a special place or anything, I usually just sit next to him while he is working on some work/project and read my books. To be quite honest there’s nothing more romantic than those moments ![]()

This is my husband and I!!!! I am a total bookworm while he....is NOT! Growing up, I developed the habit of always reading something while eating...book..newspaper...magazine. I have to have something in my hand to read while eating. It was very hard to shake this habit once I got married. My husband didn't understand and found it quite rude lol. Slowly I adjusted my reading quirks and he also became more forgiving of my stacks and stacks of books all over the place.
Once we had kids, he started to appreciate it though as all three of our boys are avid readers as well.
Like any other aspect of marriage, it's a give and take and compromise. He appreciates and respects my hobby of reading and I try to make sure it doesn't get in the way of our time together or overshadow other responsibilities I have.
Re: Spouse of a Book Loving Person?
But do you think all couples are automatically that understanding? or you just have to discuss this with your spouse till they get used to it.
Re: Spouse of a Book Loving Person?
Congrats buddy.
Hope you are not daydreaming ![]()
Re: Spouse of a Book Loving Person?
lol, you make it sound like it’s a huge thing. Maybe I’m naive and maybe my husband is just very understanding, I don’t know to be honest. It’s never been something we needed to “discuss”. We just adjusted according to each other. Sometimes when he is working and I want to talk to him, I do annoy him and tell him he’s ignoring me but it’s more in a teasing way than anything else and sometimes he will also take my book away and tell me to talk to him instead and I find that very cute ![]()
I don’t see any issue I guess.

After interacting and living with someone for a bit, you get a good idea of what they are like and their personality and get used to it. If one spouse is very into reading, the other spouse will eventually figure it out and reach the conclusion that their spouse simply likes their reading time and isn't ignoring them. :D

Yes. Especially given the inconsistency of Cook and Robson.

Re: Spouse of a Book Loving Person?
Is ka to aik hi hal hai. Continue reading your book with one hand, don’t tear your eyes away from the page. With your other arm outstretched, use your hand to pat begum’s forehead to sleep…jis tarha chotay bachon ko sulaatay hain. Book bhi parhi jaayegi aur bivi ignore nahi ho gi. Like TS said, balance is key. :k:
