hands man. none of the south indian dishes are meant to be eaten with utensils.
idlis get dipped in a bunch of chutneys, or other dishes like sambar or even chicken or fish curry.
and you have to kind of smush it in, not just dip, or it will just taste like a bland lump.

I don't eat it like tht.
I put idli in my plate , pour all the chutnis on it and then use a spoon to eat it :D

yeah some people make idlis that are liek rocks. the good stuff should be like pillows of cloud. light and airy with a mild sourness. <3
