Sometimes people do that to show that their feelings are not invalid. That they have choices even according to the religion their elders claim to practice with such devoutness.
Whatever it is…living apart is an option and there’s nothing wrong with it. No one is being abandoned and I have yet to see a DIL turn away her MIL from her own home when she needs to be taken care of. Log aye vayeen baat ka batangar banatay hein.
