[Split discussion] Punjab vs rest

Re: change the route of the Pakistan-China Economic Corridor.

@ajazali sure. qabooliyat ki ghaRi thi. kash aap kuch aur maang lete

Re: change the route of the Pakistan-China Economic Corridor.

PMLN banned IDPs, and they faced the backlash from people of their own province (regardless of the role PTI played) but did PPP and MQM receive any sort of condemnation for their racist attitude? Sindhi nationalists on this board were defending that racist move.

Have you ever been to Punjab/Lahore (or the Capital) or when was the last time you visited? Have you seen the size of Pashtun and Kashmiri communities settled there? Just because Punjab has no such thing as ethno-fascists crying Pashtunisation under the pretext of Talibanisation (read the confession of captured MQM killers) doesn’t mean Punjab hasn’t opened its door to Pashtun migrants. If anything Punjab is right next door to KPK (and Kashmir) and the social intermixing and cross border migration goes back centuries. Just because Pashtuns stand out like sore thumb in Karachi, you think all Pashtuns only ever go to Karachi. Bubble living. I suggest people of Karachi to actually visit Punjab and remember that unlike the provinces, the province of Punjab is lot more than just a single cosmopolitan city!

There was a joke I read here (or maybe somewhere else) if Karachi becomes a province under MQM, all non Muhajir Pakistanis would need a visa to enter the city. You talk about Punjabis moving into less developed Sairaiki region and owning business, what about the huge number of Saraikies who have moved to relatively more prosperous Northern Punjab, owned businesses, found employment and brought properties there and in return achieved social mobility? So this goes both ways. In Punjab, people are just way too interlinked and integrated to fall for any of this us vs them divide.

You hate ethnic bickering when it becomes two sided, when the other party starts defending itself and start showing the mirror. I fear for Pakistan when Punjabis develop the same victim complex and xenophobia which is always rationalised in other provinces/groups in one way or another.

Re: change the route of the Pakistan-China Economic Corridor.

Exactly, pashtun can be seen living and working in every large and small city of punjab.

Re: change the route of the Pakistan-China Economic Corridor.

Then speak for yourself, most of ā€˜Punjabis’ on this forum have got zero relatives in the army. Army is from northern Punjab.

Re: change the route of the Pakistan-China Economic Corridor.

Pashtuns are scattered all over Punjab thanks to the ease of geographical and social mobility in the province, historical intermixing and tolerance plus the increasing rate of urbanisation. Hence, no wonder parties like ANP don’t need to come to Punjab to play violent ethnic politics to represent and ā€˜empower’ the discriminated Pashtun, like they did in Karachi.

Re: change the route of the Pakistan-China Economic Corridor.

By the way **Doppleganger, **what is your opinion on Balochi Sardars and racist nationalists, and Sindhi feudal and racist nationalists who travel the entire province to get treated in the hospitals of Karachi or find a job and high standards of living there? Aren’t they also a burden on Karachi’s resources? Why haven’t they bothered developing rest of their province? Why for the local Sindhis, there are no opportunities anywhere in the Sindh except Karachi! Hyderabad used to be a city I believe, but isn’t it embarrassing how the rate of urbanisation and measly development in Sindh and Balochistan don’t go beyond the respective provisional capital cities!

I remember the story of founding father of Baloch insurgency who was brought from all the way to Balochistan to a hospital in Karachi for treatment and count his last breath. It was painfully ironic. For all these years, these blood sucking filthy rich waderas and confused nationalists did nothing to provide basic facilities to their people. They deprived their own people from schools and hospitals yet they have pathological audacity to blame ā€˜outsiders’.

True representative of Maharaja Ranjeet Singh
The founder of Takht e Lahore

Re: change the route of the Pakistan-China Economic Corridor.

actually main point was of the in correct example given by Ajaz. On the other note , no one can deny that ethnic polarization is on high in pakistan. This is a normal social behaviour when resources are scarce , various groups will fight with each other and first basis of joining them is language

Re: change the route of the Pakistan-China Economic Corridor.

^ Not entirely correct. The record of voting trends in KPK and Punjab don’t reflect the ethnic polarisation you see in Sindh and Balochistan (the latter has a legitimate case). If ethnic polarisation was high than PTI - a non ethnic party - would not be getting a government in KPK and widespread grass root popularity in Punjab and Gilgit Baltistan. Just to win handful of seats in Karachi/Sindh - I would never want PTI to play the pathetic ethnic slogans and stroke people’s victim complexes. I suggest everyone to watch recent Parvez Khattak’s interview where he talked unfair distribution of resources without indulging in any ethnic claptrap.

There is a direct correlation between ethnic/religious based voting trends and general backwardness and underdevelopment of the regions. It’s KPK’s bad luck that they gave all major parties a chance but none of the parties gave the province anything in return. But things have changed. The war torn province is in now direct competition with Pubjab on every front.

PS: Someone in this thread abused Punjabis by calling them ā€˜dhuggas’ (post 115). It perfectly proves the point Punjab enjoys highest level of ethnic harmony because such racist mudslinging and name calling is not the norm amongst the locals or the politicians. Some Muhajirs feel high and mighty and self important by insulting half of Pakistan’s population like this. I wonder how they feel when they receive similar verbal treatment by likes Zulfiqar Mirza? Ethnic bigotry only becomes an issue when Punjabis start answering back. It Yes, the so called self proclaimed educated community of Karachi knows nothing about stooping so low in their ethnic bigotry. No wonder due to such pathetically ignorant disdain for Pakistan’s agrarian culture and living (our economic backbone!), in Sindh you have such hopelessly stationary urban rural divide based on ethnic and lingual bigotry.

Re: change the route of the Pakistan-China Economic Corridor.

^ there is no ethnic polarisation in Balochistan as such, people vote for their tribal chief’s, Bugti’s, Marri’s and Mengals get their seats. We can compare this with Baradari system in Punjab (especially rural areas).

Re: change the route of the Pakistan-China Economic Corridor.

^ there is issue as queta belongs to whom

Re: change the route of the Pakistan-China Economic Corridor.

It may not exactly be a case of ethnic polarisation in Balochistan, but general sense of xenophobia is quite high. As with Punjab, Bhutto was very popular in rural Punjab, but then again, it was him who was mainly responsible introducing the system of electables.

Certain mods started crying and were so heartbroken when a corrupt politician was called a bas***rd or coward. I wonder if any action would be taken against a member who just used a racially abused an entire ethnic group.

I hope that particular mod and the member who used the racist word knows what it actually means. If this is a normal figure of speech amongst Muhajir to describe Punjabis…then let a Punjabi member explain what the word means so you don’t expose yourself as an illiterate racist next time.

Re: change the route of the Pakistan-China Economic Corridor.

it is just calling the name
But in fact is no one is a ----- in the world but the parents who give born to an illegitimate child
So we have a real one and he is leading few
Mods Please let her say to same to any one , this shows her very well .

Re: change the route of the Pakistan-China Economic Corridor.

Yes it says so much about a hypocrite mod who repeatedly uses obscene language to butcher an Islamic name of a journalist (because he is supposedly an army man!) but starts crying when likes of Nawaz and Zardari are described with adjectives. But I love it when PPP bababys come to Zardari’s rescue. Perfectly explains why the party has gone down so badly. I hope Zardari never leaves PPP and these PPP bababays never stop supporting Zardari.

Re: change the route of the Pakistan-China Economic Corridor.

Everyone, please control your emotions and language. Please report the post instead of trying to settle scores.

Also, offensive statements/remarks/titles against any community will not be tolerated. thx

Re: change the route of the Pakistan-China Economic Corridor.

Pai ji if this is the definition then Karachi wins the crown cuz it has more Pasthuns than another large city of Pakistan outside KPK.

Similarly it has a ton of punjabis , Sindhis, Balochis and other nationalities as well.

But its ok if you wana give Punjab the credit for everything, be my guest, as long as it gives you inner satisfaction. However slamming other nations or provinces is as wrong as it can be.
