I love makeup and beauty products.
I buy really good quality makeup and skincare products and I feel like it’s worth spending the money on these products because i’m passionate about them. Me going to Ulta and Sephora is like how a kid is in a toy store. I know my limits so it’s not like an obsession.
Do you feel guilty about spending your hard earned money on beauty products?

I only feel guilty when I get disappointed.
For me - skincare is everything. I want my skin to be in good condition so no guilt there at all.
For cosmetics, I do some serious research before buying anything high end so I don't feel bad about it later.
I get the results I want because I definitely google the online customer reviews n most of the time they end up working for me
Men can't really say anything abt women spending on beauty products bc most electronic products are 100s of dollars and the results from good skin care products will last.
I always try the 'sample sized' products first; if it's to my liking and only then I will go back and purchase a full sized bottle
Having said that ONLY buy what you need, and now I have a pretty good idea what will work what wouldn't. Sephora is pretty accomdating in terms of the products, you can pretty much try almost anything in the store before buying and their return policy is pretty good too.
Only time I have been disappointed is when I was doing my wedding shopping and being running around having not much time so splurged and bought a bottle of Guerlain foundation the one with rose water in it (I believe it's discontinued now) It gave me horrible itch all over my face, and of course it was such a waste because I got caught up with so many other preps that never went and returned it, It's been almost 7 years but that splurging still haunts me till this day :/
We don't get any samples here in Dubai, I go crazy at Sephora/Paris Gallery too! ...and MAC! I don't regret any purchases though and I usually know what I want but then, sigh impulse buying happens! :(
okay i'll say it, impulse emotional shopping has happened to me where it's something I need but rather than wait for a sale I buy it right then to make myself feel better. I do feel better and satisfied but a big no-no. I think i have all the yummy beauty products I would want. No more!!

Which products did you all try that did give you the results you were looking for?
thanks for this thread.....made me go and pay my bills and other stuff that I needed to take care of.....
now that the responsibilities are taken care of....
yes...I do sometimes feel guilty because I definitely buy more make-up than I use.
mind you I'm not big on expensive "skin care" lines. I find more satisfaction in finding cheats and natural alternatives....
Do you feel guilty about spending your hard earned money on beauty products?
Absolutely not! Being able to spend money on things I enjoy/luxury items is one of the reasons i work hard to earn money. I have a lot more MU/Nail polish than I need but have never felt guilty about it.
I read reviews online, and try products in-store/through samples before purchasing. But if for some reason...if a product isn't giving me the results I expect......I don't hesitate to return it. I'm lucky that in the U.S. almost all retailers have generous return policies. Sephora, Ulta, Nordstorm, Saks, Macy's.......I've never had an issue returning or exchanging any products there.
I don't regret a teeny bit spending a bunch on Nars blush, bobbi brown foundation, MAC eyeshadows but the random lots of xyz cheap cosmetic purchases that I use very rarely and take up lots of space are what I sometimes regret buying.
Also I try to buy online during friends and family 25 percent discount that happens a couple of times a year.

Same here! Skincare is extremely important to me because I have problematic skin and i'm willing to spend anything as long as it makes my skin nice. I've been using a toner that costs $45 for the past few years because of how much of an improvement I see in my skin when I use it. My face wash is around the same price, I know it's a lot but I do extensive research before purchasing something.
Same thing with makeup, I do my research before I buy something and/or get samples before hand so I don't feel bad. Everyone has a hobby/passion. Makeup is mine...and if we don't spend money on what we love, then what do we spend it on?

ebay and sometimes online shopping can be a pain if you get the wrong shade or aren't satisfied and there's a 20% service fee if you are returning it with ebay.....the price online might be better but it did bite me in the butt when I bought one item on ebay thinking i was getting a good deal but when I got it I realized the return policy wasn't so favorable for the buyer. reading everything carefully is necessary during online shopping and impulse shopping is definitely a nono online.
^ TBH I’ve never bought anything on ebay. Even if/when I buy MU/hair/nail products online…before purchasing I always try it on at a store first. But yes, I agree that it’s important to read the fine print before making any purchase.
Dr Dennis Gross Extra Strength Peels… I got a sample packet and fell in love.
Philosophy’s Take a Deep Breath Oxygenating Gel Moisturizer…its ridiculously perfect for my combo skin that wants to be oily once in a blue moon and then dry as well.
Hourglass’s primer.
Lancome’s Hypnose Star Mascara.
Those are the ones I can remember off the top of my head.
Yup. I think if you have problematic skin it forces you to pay attention and do something about it. For people who have normal skin…or even slight acne that doesn’t bother them too much…its no big deal. But me…I take great pains for my skin to look and stay normal too. Ever seen a pepperoni pizza? Yeah…that was me once upon a time.

By the way, what toner are you using?
No way!!! Your skin is so nice Mashallah, I could have never imagined it looked like that once. My skin looks like a blemished potato when I don't take care of it, literally.
I use the DDF glycolic toning complex. I can't say enough good things about it. Even with the high price, I can't help but repurchase it each time i'm out.
Which products did you all try that did give you the results you were looking for?
Temptu airbrush system (for special occasions)
Guinot - balance face cream
Proactiv - refining mask (have been using it since HS, great for my oily skin and keeping blemishes under control)
Laura mercier/illamasqua - camouflage concealar
Illamasqua cream foundation (for everyday wear)
Bobbi brown - powder blush/eye liner
MAC/LORAC - lipsticks
NARS - lipgloss/bronzer/highlighter
Makeupforever - eye shadows/masacara
Philosphy - bodywash
Fresh/tocca - perfume
These are the products that have worked for me for quiet sometime except for the temptu, I have only had it for 3 years but I absolutely love it, and will stick too, seems like a lot and it probably is, I do have other stuff like kryloan/ben nye/NYX products and God knows what else but those are only for wedding events or pictures and such.
NARS "orgasm" illuminator, Kat Von D foundation, Chanel Illusion D'Ombre in "fantasme", Too Faced Boudoir Eyes palette, Stila color convertibles, Benefits' "Perk Up".
