Dont contest it. You will have to pay even more than $275, because the judge will tack on court costs as well. However, you can, and should plead it out. Go to the court on the appointed date, and talk to the prosecutor before the trial (which they encourage you to do). If the prosecutor is convinced of your version, at the very least, he/she will reduce your speed to 75 from 85. That will bring down your fine at the very least, and may even cancel out your points, if hes in a good mood. So pleading is the best case scenario.
