Yes, I just got my first speeding ticket on my way back home. I was driving 85mph on 60. Two points and $ 275.00 fine. I’m extremely down, so please keep your jokes to yourself and help me out here.
Re: Speeding ticket
85 is quite high:eek:…where was that??
Re: Speeding ticket
When and where is not the issue here. Do you guys think I should just pay the fine and accept the points or go to court or something. The police officer said that I could appeal it. I just wanna know from those of you, that have been in the situation before. How does the whole appeal thing work ? Is it worth appealing?
Re: Speeding ticket
Why do you want to appeal when you did something wrong?
Re: Speeding ticket
^that's my point...
Re: Speeding ticket
If it was a small violation like just 10 mph over then maybe you could have appealed. Other factors like sparse traffice, or a sudden speed limit change can help you. Otherwise, I think 85 is too high for much to be done. I say pay it and be more careful next time.

Re: Speeding ticket
I don't think I was speeding. I was stuck behind a car driving 50mph or even below, so I just speeded a little bit ahead to pass the slow car and went ahead, as soon as I passed that slow car, I slowed down and drove 60. My intentions were not to speed , I was just trying to pass the slow car.
And NO, this is not an excuse. It's the truth.
Re: Speeding ticket
Was the officer gay?
Re: Speeding ticket
What does that have to do with anything? Btw, He also asked me to take the window tints off. I thought the legal percentage was 25 or something?
Re: Speeding ticket
Did you try explaining your situation?
Re: Speeding ticket
Yes, TNC, told him everything. My license is 5 years old and not a single citation. He just said "Ma'am You have the right to appeal for trial." Can you believe I actually thanked him at the end. Who the hell thanks a cop for giving a ticket?

Re: Speeding ticket
Mahnoor, if it makes you feel any better…two weeks ago I got a ticket for driving 70 on a 35 mph zone. I actually zoomed past a school bus followed by a grey chevy impala around 10 in the morning. Little did know that I would be seeing that impala again shining red and blue in my rear view mirror .
Officer asked if I was aware of the posted speed sign and the speed I was driving at. I said yes. He then asked me why and I told him I was late for work, which again was the truth…so to my surprise I got off with a ‘warning ticket’ and instructed to be careful next time.![]()
Re: Speeding ticket
^ Zooming pass a School bus at 70 mph in 35 mph limit zone, and then cop just gave you a warning? Kuch ziyaada hi lambi chorr di.
Re: Speeding ticket
firstly in the US you are legally not allowed to over take school buses. So if you did so and did not get a ticket you are bsing.
Re: Speeding ticket
Usually on ur first speeding ticket...they let u remove the points/fine off ur record by going to a traffic school for a couple weekends...atleast in california. That what i did back in my teenage years.
Re: Speeding ticket
Band, the ending made me feel worse. Yes, you can pass by a school bus unless the bus is in complete stop and kids are getting off the bus.
Re: Speeding ticket
No point in contesting, its an officers word against yours, unless the officer does not show up ofcourse. $275 is pretty high, you can pay it in installments or maybe vouch for community work
