Re: special/sentimental moments
I met my fiance in college and was a little nervous about telling my Mom about the way I felt. My Mom had already met her twice before at other parties, but didn't know she was the 'one'. When I told my Mom about the way I felt my Mom surprisingly said "I couldn't have found you a better girl myself, I love (her name)"(she said all that in Urdu) and I was ECSTATIC. It was a really special moment for me. My fiance was thrilled too...her future mother-in-law gave the green light at the very first step! And ever since then, my Mom has treated my fiance like her own daughter. Alhamdullilah.
My fiance and I have so many special moments that it's hard to list MashAllah...but our favorite ones are of the initial stages when we first met. Everything was so exciting and thrilling back then b/c you didn't know what the other person was thinking and were just getting to know each other. Whether it was our first email to each other or our first dinner together with one of my friends and one of her friends..it was super special.
I remember I'd read over and edited my messages a million times before I sent them to her just to make sure I sounded suave and smooth, haha. And the first time we were going to have dinner with our mutual friends I thought about what I was going to wear a week in advance b/c she was going to be there. I've never done that for anyone in my life! haha. I picked out this light green button down Express shirt and she happened to ironically wear green to that dinner too - and it wasn't even planned but we ended up matching.
Also, I remember when I burnt her the first CD I gave her I specifically downloaded every song that was really romantic to me or one of my favorites from the past. The funny thing was her friend took the CD from her right away after we left and she put it in to her laptop...her friend then started going through each song to analyze my feelings for my fiance and my fiance just sat there and listened to her friend's analysis. Bichari couldn't even enjoy the cd. haha. I had no idea all of this was going on and found out months later, lol. My fiance and I still laugh about memories like those; when we were much younger too.
If I told you guys the special things my fiance has done or special moments she's created for me you guys would be amazed...she's pretty awesome. I'll just give one example: for my birthday she knew I love chocolate so she got me 100 hershey kisses. You know the little white thin piece of paper that comes out of each hershey kiss? Well she unwrapped all 100 hershey kisses and took the white piece of paper out. She then then typed out '100 things that she likes about me' in one line statements and printed them out. She then cut each one line statement of things she likes about me in to 100 different tiny thin pieces of paper, placed each one in to a different hershey kiss, and wrapped them all back up so the piece of paper stuck out a little and I could pull it out just like the original hershey kisses. To top it off, she put special heart shaped stickers on the bottom of each one of the 100 hershey kisses. Then she put all of those in a really nice cylinder decorative box. It must have taken her days and hours to do that!
But each time I opened a hershey kiss(I opened one a day) I read another reason or thing that she likes about me and it was 100 days of bliss. I would look forward to the next message everyday. The amount of effort she put in to that was amazing. :)

Re: special/sentimental moments
on my 1st wedding anniversary.. when I bought him a gift.. he told me he couldnt buy me anything because of an accident he went through and was driving only when needed the most..I was ok with that, told him its alright I can understand but as far as it was our very 1st wedding anniversary.. I still hoped he will gift me something.. then at the cake cutting ceremony when all presented me gifts.. he didn't.. I knew it..but somewhere in my heart was feeling it.. thoughts like.. "he could have taken help from a friend" , "he could atleast buy me some chocolates" "he could atleast TCS me a bouquet" were rising in my mind.. then I thought maybe at night he will surprise me.. because my mind wasn't accepting he could do that... the night passed..... we went to bed and finally my hopes got lost!! the next morning, I woke up to get fresh.. went to the bathroom and while washing my face.. saw a Beautiful Gold Ring shining on the mirror tray..for a while, thought maybe any guest used my washroom and left her ring and all in sudden GOT IT....... HE SURPRISED ME......... I left everything, wore my ring.. shouted.... Jannnoooo... and while he was sleeping... just kissed him!! he REALLY surprised me :)
I wonder, how he managed to keep the excitement in his heart..

Re: special/sentimental moments
Thanks everyone :) I didn't think my stories were all that special, but I'm humbled by y'alls comments. It means a lot. I'm truly blessed to have an amazing girl like her in my life.
I have tons of more stories, but what about you all? Share some stories too, we can swap!
For our first valentine's day I was in a different state so we knew we wouldn't be seeing each other. I wanted to make it very special for her b/c I knew how big of a romantic she is and that I would be the first guy to give her anything for Vday. So I thought about overwhelming her with a bunch of gifts, but they had to be within my student budget and have a meaning or thought behind it. I came up with four. Everything was delivered to her dorm room before midnight on Vday with a help of a friend who went to the same university.
1) I'm in medical school and she thinks of me as her "teddy bear" and sometimes would call me her "big bear" as a nickname, lol. So I ordered a little teddy bear from online that was in a doctor's outfit - blue scrubs, surgeon mask, holding an x-ray and I had "Dr. Big Bear" written on the front of it's surgical scrub shirt. I then recorded a voice message through the online system and they inserted it in to the bear so every time she pressed the teddy bear's little hand she could hear my message. It was really cool - she still has it. Every time her friends came over to her place they would press the teddy bear's hand to hear my message b/c they thought the concept was hilarious. She hugged that bear to sleep every night for almost two years. :)
2) She's a big fan of fresh flowers. It was funny bc she had mentioned flowers several times but I couldn't remember what her favorite ones were. So, I remembered a conversation we had once online where she mentioned her favorite flower. So I went online and spent over an hour going through all my old messages to find where she talked about her favorite flower. I finally found it and they turned out to be Tulips. So I ordered her an assortment of Tulips to be delivered to her dorm in her university housing. She was SO surprised b/c she had only mentioned to me that she liked Tulips ONCE and she had no idea I would have remembered over a year later :) She dried the flowers and still has them years later 'till this day.
3) She's unfortunately not a fan of chocolates and sweets like I am and I always tease her about how "boring" her sweet tooth is. She prefers more fruity and nutty desserts. I told her I would never pay for dessert that's not chocolate aka 'real dessert' and we would always tease each other about this. In fact, a few times she tried convincing me to get dessert that she liked, the 'boring kind', and I refused every time and I think once she even got a little upset cause I was being stubborn. So to surprise her and make up for that I ordered myself and her a tower of treats filled with all sorts of edible sweet fruits, dried yogurt covered pretzels, dried nuts, etc. There was everything in it without all the chocolatey goods that I like so she was REALLY surprised I finally gave in, spent money on, and bought myself and her 'not real dessert', haha. We both finished everything in a couple of days and there was a lot of stuff in it...so it was good! I admitted to her that her taste in dessert was in fact GOOD and I was wrong :) Ever since then we've been willing to try things that the other person likes and it's really cool b/c sometimes I really end up liking something I would have never tried if it wasn't for her and vice-versa.
4) The last present was the best in my opinion and didn't cost me a penny. She's a huge artist and draws really well. She does bridal henna too. I've never been an artist and can't draw AT ALL so I decided to draw something for her myself! I wanted to show her my appreciation for her skills and make something that required time and effort on my part. SO, I found my favorite picture of her that I had saved on my computer. I printed it out and I tried copying it and drawing it by hand myself on a white sheet of drawing paper. I sketched it on pencil a million times first and kept erasing and redrawing it. Then when I finally had it down I outlined it with a pen. I would work on it constantly instead of doing my homework because I was so excited to finish it that week, lol. I think the end result was a lot better than I expected. A couple of my friends saw it and they thought it was pretty good. When she saw it her reaction was :O and she couldn't stop saying "OMG I can't believe you drew this yourself!" Her reaction and seeing her smile and laugh so much TOTALLY made my day.
Oh, and I asked her to open all the gifts on webcam so I could see her reactions. She did it at midnight of Valentine's Day. It was such an awesome moment. And guess what? She had sent me stuff too. It came in the day before so I had to impatiently wait to open my gifts with her. Her stuff was amazing again. We opened our gifts together on webcam and that was honestly one of the most exciting experiences we had that year. Even though we were separated by miles, we still found a way to celebrate the day of romance together and make each other smile.
Re: special/sentimental moments

Re: special/sentimental moments
Since his two birthdays I have been decorating our room with balloons, flowers, candles, cake and the slow romantic songs.. this year, on his birthday, he wasn't with me.. I was really missing to be with him.. I wanted to make him happy! so thought of doing somthing that could turn him real happy. Once he told me.. when he was living in Australia, he bought himself a real huge Metal Bull.. (he likes metal decoration items), when he was coming back to pakistan winding up his business from there, he had a load of luggage along that he couldnt bring that with him.. according to him, it was sooooo beautiful.. but I just couldn't manage to bring it along.. so I thought to gift him that! bought it from here and delivered him to UK.. :) although it was tooooo heavy.. but never mind.. as long as I knew he will be tooooo happy to have it back.. the best part is, he didnt know I am sending it to him!! it was a surprise on the door!
number two!, when every year..why not this year.. yeah I decorated our room the same way.. this time framed the wall.. with almost 25 big balloons and in center.. "HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR" with colored crape papers and pasted flowers.. he didnt have any single idea for that.. he knew.. I will be on skype to wish him his bday at his 12 midnight.. (mine 4 midnight).. he came online.. I focused the wall with my webcam.. hiding myself.. i just wanted him to see just the framed and focused decoration when he ons his cam..and thats what exactly happened.. I turned my cam on.. saw his plain face and when "HE" saw the wall.... I can't express his feelings....... he was like SURPRISED!! like he could have never thought of it..... and I sang him the b-day song..... he was soooooooo happy......... that was really surprising and romantic:)
Re: special/sentimental moments
awww i wish, hope and pray i get someone as sweet as you all.
Re: special/sentimental moments
sure you will :)
Re: special/sentimental moments
For my fiance's bday, I found it very difficult to pin point anything he would go crazy over...all he ever says is 'people around me being happy makes me happy'...I was thinking 'duh! But what can I do for you that's extra special?'...he replied 'just be happy and I'm happy'.
So with no clues or ideas I put my brain into overdrive, I searched through chat logs, probed through indirect questions and finally after days mulling over it, it hit me -I remembered he loved animals! But wait, he lives in a one bed flat...I can't get him a dog or cat, he can barely take care of himself!!
So i skimmed through every advert I could and just when I was kicking myself on not finding an idea, he sent me a link he saw on facebook (we send each other links of random vids that might cheer up the other) of a hamster eating (it was friking cute)! ahh what an idea! a hamster!
So I bought its house and talked to the pet owners , asking them to specifically send over the hamster to his place to surprise him (During that time, it was difficult to meet because my family hadn't yet come to know about him being in my life - they do now and everyone's happy alhumdullilah!). Only thing is the cage reached him before the hamster did! I remember it so clearly, we were on skype talking randomly, the door bell rang and he ran to the door and ran back. He received the parcel and was so confused, he came back on cam and started unwrapping it with the cutest puzzled look and then looked like a little kid in a candy store! It was the most precious reaction I had ever seen! He couldn't stop smiling the whole time and told me it was the best gift he had ever received in his life...
Not an extra ordinary story but it was one of the most precious to me simply because of the reaction I saw on his face. 3 weeks now till the wedding, I hope I can always make him smile the way he did that day!!
