Re: Speaking hindi…good or bad?
My aunt’s 4 year old daughter in Pakistan, said to her that “mama hum apki chita jalaey gay when you die..” and if you don’t expect a Muslim parent to react to it then your sadly wrong. As for you saying, that parents should teach kids not to immitate stuff they watch on tv well, you should know a kid’s mind is like a sponge. It absorbs what goes around in it’s surroundings and then try to immitate adults.
Anyway, that day on, the any foreign content was banned in her house, until the kids were old enough to know what’s right for them and what’s not.
Re: Speaking hindi…good or bad?
I think u misunderstood my point. I am not saying there should not be any reaction at all on such things. Just the over reaction amazes me. And so what if that little kid said something like ‘hum aapki chita ko jalayein ge’. One can easily and politely tell the kid why saying such thing is wrong to say. Simple. And indeed a kid’s mind is like a sponge but with proper supervision he/she will not absorb anything unless they are free to watch whatever they want. Well this is how i have seen kids in my family growing up. We used to watch indian dramas, films but not once we imitated any such scenes or said anything.
Re: Speaking hindi…good or bad?
How is Hindi not a language Diwana ? Can you explain in simpler terms plz.
Re: Speaking hindi…good or bad?
Actually PAki’s language n culture is totally different from Indian culture and language, every nation prefer its own language, culture n traditions as well,so when we see our childrens are adopting another cultural terms, we strictly stop them to follow, because by doing so,they ignore their own cultural terms, its good to knw abt other cultural terms but its not good to adopt when we have our own language and best Islamic cultural trends..!
Re: Speaking hindi…good or bad?
I think you are NOT confused rather a victim of the typical Bharati propaganda. Sanskrit is NOT the ROOT of Urdu. Instead it is just that Urdu has absorbed many Sanskrit words (after modification). Similar to Urdu accepting words from Persian, Arabic, Turkish or English. If Sanskrit were the root of Urdu then their grammar should have some similarity.
Re: Speaking hindi…good or bad?
If your basis are strong then your kid will never forget his/her language and culture regardless of what he/she sees on tv about other cultures. These days we hardly speak proper pure (khaalis urdu)…not saying there is anything wrong with that.
Re: Speaking hindi…good or bad?
Kids shouldn’t even be allowed to view such dramas or movies to begin with…

Re: Speaking hindi…good or bad?
These parents with ‘overreaction’ need to not expose their kids to the indian tv crap…
Re: Speaking hindi…good or bad?
I just read this :
The dialect upon which Standard Hindi is based is khadiboli, the vernacular of Delhi and the surrounding western Uttar Pradesh and southern Uttarakhand region. This dialect acquired linguistic prestige in the Mughal Empire (17th century) and became known as Urdu, “the language of the court.” In the late 19th century, the Hindutva movement started to standardize Hindi as a separate language from Urdu. In 1881 Bihar accepted Hindi as its sole official language replacing Urdu and thus became the first state of India to adopt Hindi.

Re: Speaking hindi…good or bad?
How we can maintain the strong basis? obviously when we put restrictions on our generation to stop intermingling urdu with hindi, and let them realise the true difference between our terms and Indian language or terms,
yes i knw pure urdu is totally vanished, even our institutes charge fine if we speak urdu mistakenly..!
Re: Speaking hindi…good or bad?
its very easy only if one wants to maintain strong basis. This intermingling thing should apply to english because thats what people use with urdu (no one use hindi words while speaking urdu…i was pointing towards those who make an issue of it just coz their kid said a hindi word which she/he learnt while watching something on tv). I have not yet come across any institute in Pakistan where they fine for speaking urdu.
Re: Speaking hindi…good or bad?
Well i’d say its our duty to stop our generation to watch Indian stuff too much, because if they watch they will speak and act according to it definitely..and now its quite easy, because Indian drama channels are restricted in Pak,i was saying because i have experienced this intermingling..
There are so many institutes ,seriously i have also been punished when i was in 5th grade, em amazed that u didn’t come across this situation ![]()
you didn’t check muqa’s thread?
Re: Speaking hindi…good or bad?
Yeah i am pretty surprised because i never saw or heard any such ‘urdu fine thing’ while i used to study in pakistan and from the kids who are studying currently. Must be some high english grammar schools/colleges of pak.
