Re: South Africa vs Pakistan
Cricinfo’s FB post: This was the game this World Cup needed. This is the team this World Cup needed. It was getting pretty bland out here without the Pakistan bowlers.
Brilliant! :k:

Re: South Africa vs Pakistan
A great win
Sarfraz was simply magnificent. Sarfraz and bowlers bailed us out
The only criticism I have is of the unnecessary, silly dismissals. Both Shehzad and Sarfraz gifted their wickets to SA. Batsmen need to value their wicket. Once Shehzad and Sarfraz were well set and playing well, they (or at least one of them) needed to bat deep into the innings. Why attempt a risky second run (Sarfraz, I know it was his World Cup debut) or a silly lob over the infield (Shehzad) when there are still plenty of overs remaining. Such little things can be the difference between victory and defeat. Preserving wickets and going at a steady pace is the way to go in this World Cup. With wickets in hand, quick runs will come in the last 10-15 overs. Nothing better can be expected from Afridi. He had another brain fade. This 37-year old ‘teenager’ is not going to let go of his brainless slogging. Commonsensical batting is beyond him. I was so incensed when he threw his wicket away at a time when all it needed was some sensible batting in partnership with Misbah and we could have reached a (decent to) competitive 260-270 total
Haris Sohail (if fit) should replace one from Younis, Umar Akmal or Sohaib in the next game. Alternatively kick Afridi (I know some catches have been dropped off his bowling but generally speaking he has been useless with both bat and ball in this WC. His 15s and 20s are just not good enough) out and play Haris Sohail.
I would also be tempted to play Yasir Shah in place of Sohail Khan against Ireland on March 15. His spin could really surprise Irish batsmen who are more at ease against pacers.
Despite this confidence-boosting win, Pakistan still need to beat Ireland but at least now they do not have the added pressure of net run-rate. They just have to beat Ireland
Re: South Africa vs Pakistan
People insulting Waqar should remember that he has won more matches for Pakistan than the years they have been on this earth.
It’s stupid to make this issue between Waqar & Sarfraz OR ethnicity. It was a bad management decision to not have Sarfraz right from the first match but that’s all about it.
Re: South Africa vs Pakistan
I don’t think anyone is insulting Waqar. They are questioning his pathetic decision of not playing Sarfaraz and then trying to justify it yesterday by saying that he does not have technique. This all could have gone away only if waqar has enough guts to accept that it was a bad management decision to not play him.
As for reporter asking that question, if you do not address the concern or answer the question, these type of things will keep on growing. best way to deal with it, is to deal with it.
Re: South Africa vs Pakistan
Highlights will be on Sky Sports at 12. Cant wait to see them.
Re: South Africa vs Pakistan
absolutely right…media and people are making it waqar the beast…one of the greatest ever match winner plus he is the coach right now…we are in middle of the WC…pak has just won a great match and everyone is bombarding waqar and demanding his head, they are not realizing it will disturb the team dynamics and poor sarfraz will be under pressure for no reason.
karachi media is even worst…making it ethnic issue.
we have even forgotten how to celebrate!
Re: South Africa vs Pakistan
You should see what is going on on Twitter, especially from MQM leaders/supporters.
