Re: South Africa vs. Pakistan - 2nd Test - 19-23 Jan at Port Elizabeth

Does anyone agree with this team for the decider at Cape Town?

1- Hafeez (got a poor decision in the second innings)
2- Hameed (deserves a kick up the backside for that suicidal run in the second innings)
3- Younis (has been the most consistent batter so far)
4- Yousuf (hopefully will come good in the next game)
5- Inzi*
6- Asim Kamal (but Inzi is likely to stick with Hameed and Farhat :()
7- Akmal (rest him for a couple of one-dayers after the third test)
8- Sami
9- Shabbir (don't know how match-fit he's though)
10- Kaneria
11- Asif

Well played Team Pakistan, nice work with the willow by Younis and Akmal :k:

Re: South Africa vs. Pakistan - 2nd Test - 19-23 Jan at Port Elizabeth

So are we sure that neither Gul and Shoaib are available anymore on this tour?
Even this morning one of the commentators said something suggesting Gul might be fit for the 3rd test.

Regardless if Shabbir is not fully inthe groove, he must play if he is in SA. We will break Asif if we don't have a pacer to open with him other than Sami.
And If Abul Rehman is there then I would use him in ODIs. Must play Kaneria in 3rd test to help him solidify his confidence. He has acted like a strike leg spinner in the 2nd test. Took important wickets.
Rest looks. And I believe INZI and woolmer should see the light after farhat's dispicable innings so far. So we should see Hameed upgraded and Kamal included. I mean PCB said he is "Striclty a test candidate" so then what other opportunity but this last test will he get?

Re: South Africa vs. Pakistan - 2nd Test - 19-23 Jan at Port Elizabeth

^ Well AA this is what the BBC’s saying about Akhtar and Gul. Inzi also hinted yesterday that Shoaib would now miss the whole SA tour
---------------------------------------------------------
Pakistan fast bowlers Shoaib Akhtar and Umar Gul will return home from the tour of South Africa because of injury.

Shoaib, 31, suffered a hamstring injury during South Africa’s first innings in the second Test when he took 4-36. He could not bowl in the second innings.
It marred his first Test appearance for 11 months after injury and the lifting of a drugs ban, and is likely to rule him out of the one-day series as well.
Gul will also miss the one-dayers in February with an ankle complaint.
Saleem Altaf, Pakistan’s director of cricket operations, said: "Shoaib has been ruled out of action for at least two weeks with a grade one hamstring tear and has also developed fluid in his knee.
“Both he and Umar Gul will be examined by a medical commission when they return home.”
Seam bowler Shabbir Ahmed and all-rounder Abdul Razzaq are to be sent to South Africa as a result of the injuries.
Shoaib, meanwhile, is also set to face an internal disciplinary hearing after TV cameras showed him in an altercation with coach Bob Woolmer in the dressing room before the start of play on Saturday.
“I have talked with [team manager] Talat Ali on this particular incident,” said Altaf.
"He has assured the board that he would conduct an inquiry and then take action, if required. “The board has told the manager it would support any decision he takes over the issue.”

Re: South Africa vs. Pakistan - 2nd Test - 19-23 Jan at Port Elizabeth

Pakistan’s bowling for next Test should be:
Asif, Shabbir, Nazir, Kaneria…

but I think it will be:
Asif, Shabbir, Sami, Kaneria :bummer:

Re: South Africa vs. Pakistan - 2nd Test - 19-23 Jan at Port Elizabeth

Congratulations everyone although I think Hafeez (ball was missing leg stump) and Inzi (ball was missing off stump) were given out wrongly but in the end, win wipes it all !!!

Re: South Africa vs. Pakistan - 2nd Test - 19-23 Jan at Port Elizabeth

Congratz to Pak Team :)

Re: South Africa vs. Pakistan - 2nd Test - 19-23 Jan at Port Elizabeth

Captain1: Why Nazir? He was hopeless in the first test. I think the decision to drop him was justified.

Re: South Africa vs. Pakistan - 2nd Test - 19-23 Jan at Port Elizabeth

Inzamam yet again proved that he is by far one of the most reliable, gutsy and great batsman of our time. He is a living legend and only a blessing to our team and the sport. Pakistan has been spolied by his matchwinng inngs for over a decade but for him it is his duty. One of the best batsmen of our time.

Asif, Akhtar did what they should do as strike bowlers and their combination is very lethal. The one two puch of pace and swing can rattle any batting line up in the world. Altough Akhtar's fitness is a problem and makes it difficult for Asif to carry the load.

I believe Kaneria is a difference maker in the series, if our openers do not give away their wickets and put on a solid score, Kaneria will sneak in wickets. The wicket is not for him and he should not be nabbing those crucial and important wickets. He gets smacked around but comes back with aggression, passion and plan to take wickets. If our batsmen put on good score in the Third Test, Kaneria will take the game away fromt he Saffies.

Re: South Africa vs. Pakistan - 2nd Test - 19-23 Jan at Port Elizabeth

as if Sami is providing all hopes? :cb: I think Nazir is much more disciplined, he was good in previous matches.

Re: South Africa vs. Pakistan - 2nd Test - 19-23 Jan at Port Elizabeth

nazir shud be akhtar’s replacement,he is a decent bowler n a handy batsman too :k:

Re: South Africa vs. Pakistan - 2nd Test - 19-23 Jan at Port Elizabeth

no way nazir is not that good.gotta try someone new like irshad or wasim khan both of em can bowl at 140 plus and have done well in domestic.

Re: South Africa vs. Pakistan - 2nd Test - 19-23 Jan at Port Elizabeth

Did u watch Anwar in 20-20..?
he needs time to develop variety… IMHO… all he does is fast leg cutters or in dippers…
international class players will swat him around for 4s and 6s…
:halo:

Re: South Africa vs. Pakistan - 2nd Test - 19-23 Jan at Port Elizabeth

Congrats to Pakistan fro such a fine display of gamesmanship. Inzi was truly phenomenal.

No Shabbir pleeeeeeze....no more jhatkas please.

Re: South Africa vs. Pakistan - 2nd Test - 19-23 Jan at Port Elizabeth

well sami has more pace. And in this last test he was not that bad. Given that if we were all selecting we would not have even given Sami a chance, but he was given a chance and he was not that bad.
