Just for the record this was Pakistan’s 103rd test win overall in their 329th test match (lost 86)
This was Pakistan’s 3rd win against SA and their second on South African soil
SA lead 6-3 overall in tests
Re: South Africa vs. Pakistan - 2nd Test - 19-23 Jan at Port Elizabeth
inshaAllah it will read 6-4 after next test :-)
Re: South Africa vs. Pakistan - 2nd Test - 19-23 Jan at Port Elizabeth
Brilliant win. I'm so happy! Let's seal the series off in Cape Town.
Re: South Africa vs. Pakistan - 2nd Test - 19-23 Jan at Port Elizabeth
^ It was indeed brilliant.
Re: South Africa vs. Pakistan - 2nd Test - 19-23 Jan at Port Elizabeth
Muhammad Asif could have deserved Man of the Match also. Oh well it's all good anyways.
Re: South Africa vs. Pakistan - 2nd Test - 19-23 Jan at Port Elizabeth
South Africa would have fancied their chance when they had Pakistan pinned down at 92 for 5 but an amazing partnership between Younis Khan and Akmal which produced 101 runs in 19.1 overs at and impressive rate of 5.26 sealed the game for Pakistan.
Actually that last boundary was not allowed since Younis and Akmal had completed two runs before the ball hit the boundary fence. I was n't aware of this strange rule. So the partnership was 99* and not 101* and Younis finished on 67* (not 69*) !!!
Re: South Africa vs. Pakistan - 2nd Test - 19-23 Jan at Port Elizabeth
Congratulations to all.
Well played Pakistan, there were few mistakes I hope we won't repeat it in 3rd Test. :)
Re: South Africa vs. Pakistan - 2nd Test - 19-23 Jan at Port Elizabeth
And so could have Younis Khan with scores of 45 and 67* in the match :k: .
Those three ((Inzi, Younis and Asif (7 wickets)) stood out in this game not to mention Kaneria’s 7 wickets in the match and Akhtar’s vital spell in the first innings
Re: South Africa vs. Pakistan - 2nd Test - 19-23 Jan at Port Elizabeth
This is not a strange rule, its common sense. When they ran the 2 runs, the game was considered OVER.
So think about it, what came first: Gave OVER or the Chokka? If the Chokka came after Gave Over, then it doesnt count. :)
Re: South Africa vs. Pakistan - 2nd Test - 19-23 Jan at Port Elizabeth
I stand corrected :k:
