Re: South Africa vs. Pakistan - 2nd Test - 19-23 Jan at Port Elizabeth
we desperately need someone to replace Akmal so he can rest for few matches. he's been playing non stop and need lil healthy competition.
Re: South Africa vs. Pakistan - 2nd Test - 19-23 Jan at Port Elizabeth
Although he got the runs that seems like others could not get, even saffies, I would agree that we would have liked to see Zulqy as WK...just to see how he fares...
May be they will try him in the last test if we win this one...
Re: South Africa vs. Pakistan - 2nd Test - 19-23 Jan at Port Elizabeth
Highly unlikely, if we win this one the series will be tied and Inzi would want to win the series hence no chance for trials.
Re: South Africa vs. Pakistan - 2nd Test - 19-23 Jan at Port Elizabeth
This is akmal’s bashing ![]()
Re: South Africa vs. Pakistan - 2nd Test - 19-23 Jan at Port Elizabeth
Well bad news is that Inzi had injured his neck while in the nets, which is why he was off the field and didn't come in to bat. Lets hope he recovers so that we can take some semblance of a respectable lead tomorrow.
As for Akmal, anyone who has seen his streaky innings will know that the numbers don't tell the whole story. He had an off tour in England but it seems as if the problem is deeper than just a mere dip in form.
Re: South Africa vs. Pakistan - 2nd Test - 19-23 Jan at Port Elizabeth
thats why pak is not # 1 team... we always give the initiative away ... again from a great position we have lost the advantage ... i am guessing 50 runs lead is all we are going to get...we have to depend on another effort from our bowlers .
Re: South Africa vs. Pakistan - 2nd Test - 19-23 Jan at Port Elizabeth
lets hope sami can disco dance for an hour in the morning without giving any trouble to his willow, so Inzi can settle and get some useful runs.
Re: South Africa vs. Pakistan - 2nd Test - 19-23 Jan at Port Elizabeth
^^ and shoaib can also hit some. If shoaib or sami could stay with inzi for an hour or two, we migt get 100 run lead, and that would be great
Re: South Africa vs. Pakistan - 2nd Test - 19-23 Jan at Port Elizabeth
^^ dont mind me, but 100 run lead is wishful thinking. I'd be happy with a quick fire of 40 odd runs coming out of the tailenders. coz Ntini and Co. will certainly try to knock out shoaib...etc

It's tempting to think he took people along with him in his slipstream. Danish Kaneria took a wicket early on, as rare a feat recently as a Roger Federer Grand Slam loss, subsequently settling into a fine spell. *Even Mohammad Sami was suddenly buoyed, not only into bowling quick, but with some control. He even took a *rare Test wicket, courtesy a rarer poor shot *from Ashwell Prince and that *rarest of species, the Imran Farhat slip catch. **

hahhahaa Osman Samiuddin is a funny writer today :D
Re: South Africa vs. Pakistan - 2nd Test - 19-23 Jan at Port Elizabeth
After the euphoria of bowling SA out for a paltry 124, it's even steven as I see it. A lead of 50-75 won't matter that much to SA. Unless Inzi can churn out another 100-120 runs with the tail-enders (a tough ask but not entirely impossible), SA would feel they are very much in with a chance of winning this game and the series. A target of even 200 might prove too much for our batsmen as they would be under immense pressure in the second innings with SA going all out for a series victory. It was vitally important for that reason alone that Pakistan batted well and took a big first innings lead. With Inzi still to bat we can all still hope for a decent first innings lead. Both Akhtar and Sami can use the long handle to good effect and their support would be crucial.
On a positive note, Pakistan won't be batting last on a crumbling 5th day test pitch as this test in all likelihood will finish on day 4 but to make this really count in their favour Inzi and the boyz have some work to do tomorrow morning. I don't think Pakistan would want to chase anything more than 150 in the second innings.

What a nice interview with Shoaib. Much down to the earth outlook of shoaib. I liked it. Very nice change in him. Good luck shoaib.
Re: South Africa vs. Pakistan - 2nd Test - 19-23 Jan at Port Elizabeth
WOW, did anyone see that? Shoaib shouting and finger-pointing at Woolmer in the dressing room? Woolmer looking sheepish, and then a big team-meeting? Something very fishy went on.
Re: South Africa vs. Pakistan - 2nd Test - 19-23 Jan at Port Elizabeth
looks like there was an argument in the paki dressing room
shoaib arguing with woolmer it looks like
