South Africa in England 2012

Re: South Africa in England 2012

Good for Amla. It is just physically impossible to fast and play for 5 successive days of a test

[QUOTE]
"For all of you who have asked, Firdose Moonda, our South Africa correspondent at The Oval, confirms that Amla (and Imran Tahir) are only fasting on non-match days"

Re: South Africa in England 2012

Very interesting stat

Re: South Africa in England 2012

Go Amla Go !!!!!! 295*

To the people watching the game.. so many high scores.. whats the pitch like?

Re: South Africa in England 2012

Amla 300 :icono:

first ever triple century by a south african batsman…!!

Re: South Africa in England 2012

Well played Amla.

Re: South Africa in England 2012

300 to Brother Amla. Masha'Allah. Subhan Allah. Alhamdulilah.

Re: South Africa in England 2012

Congrats! Above poster took away all the phrases. Does Jazakallah count?

Re: South Africa in England 2012

He's brother amla only cuz hes muslim?

Don't divide humanity.

We are all brothers. I suspect you would not say brother singh if he was Hashim Singh from SA.

Re: South Africa in England 2012

Though in our religion all are considered brothers n sisters (unless other relationship exists) but we only call someone 'brother' who is 'religious' and achieves something good :D

Re: South Africa in England 2012

England (2nd innings) 89/4

Pressure (huge first innings deficit) telling on England who are hurtling to defeat.

The wicket is probably still very good for batting

Re: South Africa in England 2012

Thank you English!

( phrase borrowed w/o permission)

Re: South Africa in England 2012

Nah, I don’t think so. Jazakallah is an expression of gratitude, so unless Amla saved children from a school bus that fell into River Thames while scoring his triple century, I am not sure we can use this expression.

Re: South Africa in England 2012

Oh shoot! I type corrected! Thanks for not'n Sup!

Re: South Africa in England 2012

IMO nothing wrong in having special celebration if one can identify more closely with a player. So yes - in this case desi and religion are those characteristics.

Growing up Pataudi represented south zone - that was one factor in him being my idol. Of course later I learnt he is from far north. Some of my favorites from that era - Vishwanath Prasanna Venkat Kirmani Chandra Abid Ali. Just had a soft corner.

Of course Madman Lal Mohinder Amarnath Bedi were also favorites. But the heart would automatically support Tamil Unadulterated against dominating Bombay in Ranjk trophy - just the way it was.

IMO your post was unfair to Waleed.

Re: South Africa in England 2012

Sharabee Bro
Whenever I Have Talked With You I Have Referred you as Brother Even u can check the previous posts .......So dun know from where u brought up this?

Re: South Africa in England 2012

Amla’s respect and stature just keeps growing day by day.. :k:

England got owned in this match.

Re: South Africa in England 2012

If Kallis (he is 2.5 years younger than Sachin) continues his current rich vein of form, Tendulkar’s centuries record will be under threat

Re: South Africa in England 2012

You're right brother!! I take it back. I didn't mean you diss non muslim cricket fraternity. Just meant that there is extra support just cuz he is muslim.. although of Indian origin :P

I mean, I don't cheer extra for Shivnaraine Chanderpaul or Rampaul from WI just cuz they're Hindu?

Either way, no big deal.

Re: South Africa in England 2012

Kallis is a true champion. Besides Tests, I really give him a lot of credit for adapting to modern ODI and T20 play with fast RR and big shots.. something that is not first nature to him.

I hope he gets to 50 100s.

Re: South Africa in England 2012

I don't know why Mallissa's not mentioned in the same breath as Sobers. He is so good with bat and ball.
