i'm in that situation right now, but with me it's not really a crush but gone to the point of caring("love"(whatever that is))/deep attraction, i do reciprocate the feelings b/c i do care for him but we both know that there is a big humongous line that can't be crossed and we both respect that line and respect each others' beliefs, I think it's b/c my love for my parents and beliefs is stronger and the obvious obstacles and potential problems are so scary that it keeps me in line.
emphasize the importance of the friendship and why it's important for it to stay that way.
just stay strong and stay practical, so Sehrysh that's my reaction to something like that :-)

I respectfully let them know I dont share the same feelings with them but appreciate their feelings for me (and I honestly do..its rare that someone has a crush on me so i really actually appreciate it..). Then I move on..and communicate with them exactly the way i communicate with every other person around me.
I despise people who are not honest about their feelings. I dont care much if someone lies to me ab little things..lie all you want but if you lie to me about your feelings and 'acted normal', i would actually hold you accountable for disrespecting me.

If you're at the end of not reciprocating feelings, wouldn't it be easier for you to carry on with a friendship considering your feelings are not bound to change regardless? Having that upper-hand, I'd carry on with the friendship.

the act normally thing that many of you do when somebody that you are friends with has "more than friendship" feelings for you, i just don't see how that can be done. so you put on an act and ignore that this person genuinely cares and loves you. that would be hard for me to just pretend like it's nothing big. it would be a great act
you would have no feelings returning back to them? i mean even if they are attractive and good people, it would still not bring out anything.....?
