Someone expressed their likeness for me some months ago. It was kinda strange as we had only spoken together a few times and he was much elder than me plus from another cultural background. But he was very respectful about it and I knew he didnt mean anything "weird" with it. He asked me with the utmost respect and I declined it with the same genuine respect. He then told me he had asked some other girls some time ago and afterwards they had acted as if he had commited a big sin or a murder. Probably I should add that there were many rumours about his mental health and educational history at the university, I dont know how much of it was true or not. I knew another girl personally who had taken a lot of offense because he had asked her if she wanted to have lunch with him, IMO she created an elephant out of an ant, but then again, we are different like that. However, I chose to act civil and somewhat the same with him as before and he did the same.
The thing is that he gave me loads of dua's for a happy future even though I declined his "crush/proposal" and funny thing about that is that afterwards a lot of things fell into place in my life ... I dont know if it was all cause of this or not .. But it was a nice coincident.

^after he gave you lots of duas for a great future are you still friends or in touch with each other, did you grow apart after he revealed his feelings for you? i think it would've been more difficult to stay the same if you were close friends and then the other person revealed something like that.

We were never friends to begin with. Of course I knew who he was and he knew who I was for the past couple of years since we were in the same university, but I had never spoken to him until a few months ago at a conference where he was the only one I knew. Of course I dont know what the outcome would be if we had been very close friends, obviously there would have been some weirdness about the situation, but if a close friend approached me with the same respect as he did, I wouldnt blacklist him.
I still see him at the university and I say hi/bye/how goes to him, just like before. My friend (mentioned previously) on the other hand ignores him completely and I kinda feel bad about that. Because he didnt really do anything, he just asked her if they could have lunch one day (They work at the same department at uni) and she took it wrong.

I would treat her as respect even if the understanding was not mutual. Or may be go out with her for coffee or something if i had time.
