Some questions

Listen to that lecture in your spare time with full attention. It is by Bilal Philips a Christian who converted to Islam. He is very learned scholar , not a run of the mill scholar.

My line of of thinking has been exactly along your lines. I had ponders on those question and I will also try to provide you answers to some your questions later. Though I do not have answers to all of your questions.

Re: Some questions

Don't listen to Bilal Philips. He's a salafi and he's gonna turn you into one or confuse you even more.

Re: Some questions

Dude, janwer.
read one chapter of quran every day, with translation. unless you know arabic.
Your mind will be blown away a million time in the process.
And you will become in right mindset. With most of your questions answered.

Re: Some questions

Thank you habibies, for all the help. I do understand that I wont be able to find the answers I am looking for right off the shelf. Perhaps some research.

Thank you Mirch bhai and JK.

hareem what is a salafi? you lot have made religion so complicated :hehe:

Re: Some questions

He is salafi or wahabi or shia or sunni I do not care I listen to what he says and take what makes sense to me and he makes lots of sense on many topics.
He is not the only one I listen to there are many, heck I would listen to a Christian scholar on the topic of existence of God.
To me my faith is my commitment to my Allah and nothing can make me break that commitment.

Re: Some questions

^ Mirch bhai, indeed we have a very similar thinking process. Keep me posted on what good material you find on the subject. Really appreciate your input :k:

You go through a tragedy and a painful event. You commit suicide like a coward and burn in hell forever.

or
you seek help from God until he guides u through it.

Its all pre-decided by God but our actions come into play as well. In every situation God has written and knows of every possible step we can take but its up to us what we decide.
Religiously, I am a negligent and defiant person. I am not at all regular at namaz. So am I in for an infinite period of torture and punishment? If I die today, I don't see many compelling reasons for my forgiveness. Alright, first question would be namaz? So they would be dragging my defiant butt straight to the pits of hell right after the first question. For some laziness and some defiance due to stupid reasons (unfortunate events, pessimistic feeling, just being upset), I would be punished for enernity? Now why would Allah want to do that and how is that fair?
All of us make mistakes but important thing is if we ask for forgiveness.God has given us clear guidelines of dos and donts.Dos will take us to heaven and donts will make us burn in hell.
Think of it as this way, your mommy told u not to eat candy and pick bugger while shes gone to market but when she comes back and finds u picking bugger why do u expect to be cuddled ? Eating candy isnt a sin but killing/lying/deceiving is a sin and this gives God the right to throw humans in hell and burn for eternity.
One will spend his time in hell for the amount of sins he has done and when the period will be over he will be taken out except the ones who has done kabeera gunnah.stuff like shirk and other stuff which id ont remember has no forgiveness and will be burnt in hell forever.
why did Allah create insignificant beings like us in the first place? Does he just sit there and keep watching us do our thing? and later he will have the judgement day and then watch us burn in hell or enjoy in heaven? He created all the souls, he created good and evil, so if someone is evil, how is that his fault? What would he be punished for - if it was his fate to do evil and this is what he was made for? How do you informed and educated people satisfy atheists of these questions?
well we dont know what was God's idea behind creating us little beings. He clearly says in Quran he never needed human and angels to worship him.And even when angles questioned God abt creating people who will cause violance and bad in the world,God replied "i know what u dont".SO clearly he had something great in his mind and we cant question his wisdom
Like i said earlier noones created good/bad.its their deeds and decisions in life which makes them pious/sinners in the eyes on God.It will be our fault if we will let ourselves be influenced by satan whos our biggest enemy.

Re: Some questions

Well said K337!

You knw as much as I hate to admit this, before I questioned myself and the whole concept of why aswell. It didnt make sense to me AT ALL - but then after having gone through a multitude of tests I began to realize that this HAD to happen - it happens to us ALL and it depends on us how we get through it - Some of us lose all hope and turn away from religion, start questioning life, Allah and everything in existence and just live life on a day to day basis, while others actually start to worship Allah more, ask for His help through the hard times and maybe come out stronger than before in alot of ways -

My advise to you would be to purchase a copy of a GOOD TAFSIR! You can read Ibn Kathir, Maulana Maududi; theyre usually the most sold tafsirs and they touch every issue in the world - Rather than listening to 10000 people, read it for yourself.. you'll find all the answers behind these waswasa's that the Shaytaan is whispering in your ears 24/7.

Also, start reading namaz regularly. trust me it helps soo much with the "WHY's" -
Ask Allah for forgiveness - maybe try and take out some time to reflect on what you have done in your life and what you think you should ask forgiveness for and start there.

^^ well- said Jimmy!
Reading the quran with translation will make everything clear to you.

Re: Some questions

jaanwar

there's a religious's answer to the questions and there's the agnostic's answer. Both arewell known.

Its upto you which one satisfies you.

In short, Salafis are literalists.

Re: Some questions

P.S i heard that jaanwars will be never be sent for chitter parade

It doesnt matter if you listen to everyone, literalists and non literalists.

Well, then there should be no problem with accepting Taliban's ideology.

Re: Some questions

^Accepting is different. Its okay for me to listen to everyone, then accept what you think is right.

I agree as long as you know who you're listening to.

Re: Some questions

Kay and Mysti, thank you guys. I sort of understand the religious and spiritual concepts of how we were created, what is the significance of chosing the right path, forgiveness, right and wrong, importance of namaz. I am not denying any of it. I do know that if you commit sins you will burn in hell, and if you ask for forgiveness, you probably wont.

Its just these background questions that bother me sometimes. The whole idea behind creation, why this test of life? why the creation of heaven and hell? eternal torture and punishment. And yes I am sure there are answers in Quran, I just need to do some research perhaps.

Man if both are well known, then I am really less informed. I would appreciate if you could share both.

whatever, keep this stuff to your self !
