There has been no claim of responsibility for the YMCA attack
Gunmen have attacked the Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) in Gaza City and blown up its library, burning thousands of books, its director says.
Eissa Saba said 14 men overpowered the centre’s two security guards before placing bombs in the library and main office. The latter did not explode.
The guards said the gunmen had asked them why they worked for “infidels”.
Gaza, which is controlled by the Islamist group Hamas, is home to 3,500 Christians, mostly Greek Orthodox.
A number of Christian and other institutions regarded by Muslim extremists as un-Islamic have been targeted by armed gangs over the past two years in the coastal territory, the BBC’s Katya Adler in Jerusalem says.
So far no-one has claimed responsibility for the attack, which has been condemned by all the main Palestinian factions.
Hamas, which ousted the rival Fatah movement from the territory in June, has said it is looking into Friday’s incident.
The YMCA in Gaza City is a social institution open to Palestinians from all communities.

You can add Pakistan, Iran, and most Middle East countries to the areas where Christians are fleeing. Despite Muslim perceptions that minorities are protected under Islam, the number of Christians living in Muslim majority countries has dropped by half in the last 20 years. Wonder why?

Thats not true. Or at least half truth. I am a muslim and I too left pakistan.
Point it left for what, If Christians are leaving pakistan and doing to next poor country. That kind of migration is a huge sign of trouble. Just like afghans came to pakistan.
But If Christians are leaving pakistan to live in us.canada than they are just pakistanis who are looking for better life in west.

Islam is not the governing system in any of these Muslim countries. The present day governing systems are to be blamed for anything that goes wrong under them.

You're mixing issues here, OG. Conversion to Christianity from Islam in an Islamic country is the equivalent of treason in any Western country. If you don't like it, take up the issue with Allah and the Prophet Muhammad.

My point is that Jews and Christians living under Islamic rule are not equals, they are “tolerated”, but the laws are stacked against them. In many cases they cannot hold public office, they will be arrested if they say a word against Islam, but the reverse is not true. All around the Muslim world, minority religions are clearly treated like second class citizens. You are not even allowed to practice Christianity in Saudi Arabia. Never mind the periodic grenade lobbed into a church in Pakistan.
Being a minority religion in an Islamic country is a struggle for survival, little more.

Actually I believe that most Americans are remarkably ignorant of Islam. But I do not believe that the Government is institutionalized to prevent Muslims from being fully equal in every regard.
