I think she uses you to boost her ego because in her mind: fair=beautiful but she is still very conscious of her flaws...she has low self-esteem. You being around helps her feel better about herself. She can throw her comments at you and watch you bristle a little bit and get some sort of satisfaction out of it. She wants you to be jealous of her.
I had a friend like that who used to make comments about my skin tone and Im not that dark. She was super-fair but also very heavy. She used to make jokes about my skin color being just like the chai we drink and whatnot. She was also invited to my sister's wedding and all of the related events. She said something to me the day of the mehndi and I ignored it (told me I looked fat that day). She tried again the day of my sister's shaadi (I had NO patience that day, I was wearing a 20lb sharara and dying to get out of it) and this time I let her have it. I told her I wasnt dark, I wasnt fat, there is nothing wrong with being dark (I dont see as many people bleaching their skin as I do tanning themselves in the US) and asked her if I had ever made fun of her being so obviously overweight? I told her she needs to start wearing more body-appropriate clothing. While I said this I had the pleasure of watching her jaw drop. I just kept going on fixing my makeup, rearranged my dupatta and then walked out of the restroom.
I got an apology the same day.
