Nearest to the Airport for around 36,000 dirhams an year, I would say you can rent a 1 bedroom flat in International City. It’s on a major highway, very near to inner city, Garhoud, Airport area. There’s Silicon Oasis too just near it. I will research about other places in this budget and get back to you. Oh and if you do end up deciding to live in International City, I can show you a nice 1 bedroom flat.
Raindance you don’t know, Emirates provides amazing accommodation. I don’t know what is the nature of your job but many people get amazing villas to live in, there is a separate whole Emirates Villas community!! BEAUTIFUL! If I was working for Emirates I would surely live there. Think about it, you can save rent costs and use that money somewhere else. Again I don’t know what is your job but you get either a flat to live in or a villa.
I think for you it would be best if you bought or leased a car. I think Canadian Licence is converted in to UAE one. You go to Dubai Traffic Police Headquarters in Qusais with a passport + passport copy, Canadian licence and there is a form you need to fill up and give all of this with a fee and they will make you a Dubai licence on the spot. You will have both Canadian and Dubai licence then.
At least 40 50k for a car.
