CLIFF RICHARDS was born in Lucknow-India. His parents migrated to UK in early 50’s.. when Cliff was 10 of age.
Cliff took up music and soon made his way to Radio and short appearances on TV.
He rose to fame with the movie “YOUNG ONES” which was followed by “SUMMER HOLIDAY” in 1961.
His many songs hit the chart of which “LUCKY LIPS” became the most popular in Pakistan in 1963-64…
Enjoy the song (in B&W) which Cliff sang with his colleagues; THE SHADOWS at the WEMBLEY… (also enjoy the beautiful presentation of same song by DIVYA DUTTA)
IT WAS IN 1963 THAT AGHA G.A.GUL
MADE PAKISTAN’S FIRST FULL LENGTH
EASTMAN COLOR MOVIE
“NAILA”
BASED ON RAZIA BUTT’S NOVEL.
THE MOVIE WAS MAJORLY SHOT IN MURREE
(AT SAIGOL LODGE) AND AT AGHAJEE’S GULBERGE HOUSE.
IT WAS NOT AS HUGE ON BUDGET AS SUCH MOVIES ARE…
BUT INDEED IT WAS A BLOCKBUSTER WHICH RAN PACKED
HOUSES IN PAKISTAN…
TWO REAL BROTHERS—SANTOSH KUMAR & DARPAN
**PLAYED FILM BROTHERS ROLE..BOTH VYING FOR
NAILA’S HAND IN MARRAIGE…
SHAMIM ARA DID SUPERBLY AS THE TYPICAL EASTERN

JOE DOLCE
has always had something up his sleeves to enthrall the club audience during the concert he has held in Europe and America..himself hailing from Spain.
His song “SHADDUP YOU FACE” hit the charts in Europe in mid 80’s…
Indeed…it is an enlightening song with a certain mood;
AND
REMEMBER “KOJAK”… Well Telly Savalas who hailed from Germany, was a singer too…he often sang at
London Clubs and was a friendly person… I saw him at INN ON THE PARK-London in 1979 but couldn’t meet him for his tough Manager who held me back.. I wrote to him…Heartbroken… Probably..he sang this song then

HAI APNA DIL TOU AWARA…
AND THEN BACK TO HOME… IT’S KAMAL AGAIN ON A BICYCLE HEADING TO LAHORE AIRPORT IN THOSE DAYS OF SIXTIES WHEN IT WAS FUN TO BIKE…HIKE AND SPIKE ON THOSE LONELY ROADS BY THE FAMOUS LAHORE (BRB) CANAL WHICH FLOWS LIKE DAWN! Kamal heads for airport to receive the love of his life Zeba in that blockbuster movie SHABNAM;

WAHEED MURAD
**was ** THE GENTLEMEN of Pakistan… He came, He saw and He conquered…
WAHEED literally ruled the Pak Film Industry and gave a new meaning to Karachi’s film activities by producing some of the most amazing romantic and theme movies with his team of Pervez Malik as Director, Sohail Rana as Musician and Masroor Anwar as lyricist…
Here are three most remebered songs and scenes of Waheed and his three favorite heroines; Zeba, Shabnam and Shamim Ara;
HAMRAHI was all shot in Lahore (as would also be evident from the bullock cart and tonga passing by in the first clip song…) plus in the first scene you see the gate from which the hero is coming out…which is posed as hospital but in actual it is the gate of Evernew Studios Lahore on Multan Road…
I saw this movie thrice when it was released in 1966… and had the story of two blind and lame friends.
Then it was quite patriotically taken even FM Ayub Khan had a special showing at the President’s House in Rawalpindi.
lovely thread...great collection. thank you for putting in so much effort!
Shukriya...!
The first law...for such threads is...that whatever you are sharing.. must have a description or something written on its background..and that makes the viewing more worthwhile.
I dont expect others on GS to do so...as all are much much younger to me and by default...they would not know about it....even if they love some old song.
In late 60’s TRINI LOPEZ the Maxican singer… became very popular in Pakistan with his top-of-the charts LEMON TREE but more popular became his second number… due to its patriotic significance IF I HAD A HAMMER; www.youtube.com/watch?v=oyTO5vcFWuw
and
THIS IS ONE SONG WHICH CAN MAKE ME
FORGET MY BAD MOOD ANYTIME…AND DANCE. I HAVE WON TWO CUPS ON THE WALTZING I DID ON THIS
NUMBER…
(and it did its magic on the mood…just this morning right after sehri when I visited GS)
