A cleaner has been suspended from a Birmingham hospital after allegedly boasting on Facebook about stealing medical equipment. Queen Elizabeth worker Tina Baldwin sparked anger after claiming to have swiped almost an entire ward’s worth of supplies.
She also posted a picture of herself on the social network site posing in her cleaning uniform – with a disposable bedpan on her head as a hat. The photograph also shows the cleaner wearing a surgical facemask and holding up two inflated medical gloves.
In one Facebook status update Ms Baldwin, from Hoggs Lane in Northfield, writes: “Been raiding my ward for supplies.
“Got loads of bandages… pads… sterile wipes… boxes of gloves… micropore tape… butterfly stitches… there’s not much left LOL.”

**When one friend asks whether there’s any spare hospital beds, she responds: “Loads of em (sic), but don’t think they would fit in my handbag LOL.”

Ms Baldwin, who calls herself Tina ‘Kooky’ Baldwin on her Facebook page, appears to have since deleted the status updates from the site.
However, pictures of the post and her photographs have since been spread on website Twitter, sparking an angry response from some including @Yozila who described Ms Baldwin’s Facebook status and pictures as “disgusting”.
The Mail contacted University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, which runs the Edgbaston hospital, and a spokeswoman confirmed that Ms Baldwin was suspended on Monday.
She added: “We take any complaint about the professionalism of our staff extremely seriously.
“The member of cleaning staff concerned has been suspended pending an investigation into the allegations made.”
The Mail approached Ms Baldwin at her home on Monday afternoon. She refused to comment on the allegations but said: ‘‘I haven’t done anything.’’
I have landed my last couple of roles due to social networking. It's a channel, how you use it is up to you and it has pluses and minuses on how you use it.
Of course, if you are one of the big banks, you rob the tax payer and get bonuses for the too brass as a reward. Lets get the little bedpan claening people.
So lets revisit this topic and cover a few angles. In short don't share on social media what you would have an issue with if it was printed in a newspaper with your picture.
What you share and who you share it with. As long as you realize that anything can possibly come out due to site security issues, or those of your accounts or those of your friends. Also how confident are you that they would not share it with others.
what assessments are made- all of the above does not mean you become some McAutomaton to simply shy away from personal expression, if I have to cease to be who I am in public to be acceptable to an employer or client .,, then I would rather not be working with them anyways.
There is some heightened hoopla, and especially with high school or college pics of ppl from years ago..behavior that may not be illegal but is socially dodgy. Let it be I say, a good number if us have done stuff in teens that we don't want the world to see, stupid stuff which is in the past and people have grown up. That sort of lameness I fully oppose.
I got one job through social networking, and I had not applied for the role. Some one saw my profile and contacted me. Some recruiters check the Facebook accounts of prospective candidates before finalising them to have a better idea of the person. So yes one should be careful about what details one shares on social media.

Some Employers do check profile on FB. For this reason, I have displayed my first name only in my profile on FB. For rest, I am using Linkedin that is more professional and better than FB .I want employers to check my profile on Linkedin not FB.
How do employers check your facebook 7f its not public or aet to very atrict settings?
Maybe search by name and then usually people have pictures on their profiles. My previous manager used to check Facebook profiles in addition to LinkedIn to gauge the personality of the applicants.

Fb is not secure at all,it even sells data to police, governmental agencies, FBI, recruiters . The Government uses FB to spy on people. The more they know about you the more they can control.

My own perception and the purpose of creating a social network.
They care more for American's data. Certainly in recent statements they admit that there's little protection for the rights of the rest of the world.
