You started a thread without thinking. Maybe it was a personal topic, maybe a controversial …
maybe you wanted a topic on which people would fight with each other, maybe your intentions were simple and the thread went south …
Is it ethical to now starting Pming mods to close that thread .. do you feel that just because you started the thread, you have the ownership to decide its fate …
abay I am not talking about me, or any particluar incident, but you do recieve request form thread starters every now and then to close or delete their threads …
I’ve had some people ask me to close their thread but if I feel it’s fine, I usually encourage them to leave it open, unless there’s some personal bashing, attacking, war type situation

if i start a thread and it went in a direction that I did nto want it to go, I will attempt to do so, but if thats not possible, i will just bail, its up to mods to see how well it progresses, but they cant babysit every particpant and every thread.
Your threashold as a mod is (and should be) different than a normal guppy, even if the attack is on you (or your thread) you tend to ignore the attacks ..
if you let somone elses thread let move on, would that be baby sitting or areyou just doing to that thread what you would done to your own thrad
I think dushman is trying to say that all of his threads should be closed. Good call. Do it khumi!
I think its up to the mods. I mean they wouldn;t be very good mods if they didnt know how to do their jobs. However, if someone was being a proper nasty bleep, and the mod ignored it...ehsan. He may be a brummie, but he has good sense.

No.
Once other people take their time out to reply to a thread, the thread does not "belong to" the thread opener anymore. It belongs to all those that participated. To close or remove the thread is not fair to others who took their time out to reply. Now their thoughts have been suppressed.
Unless the reasons were obvious (cursing, name calling, personal attacks etc. going on), if the thread has simple arguments (in a polite way), I have refused to lock those threads.

I know what you are saying, but you as a mod would you be on every gupsters hotline if they see the thread going in a diff direction than they wanted when they initially started the thread. There is a judgement call there..has the thread gone off in a tangent or if it is still related to the intial point although exploring other aspects of it.
