As spring is almost over now, I was interested to know what everyone has done to improve their house lawn, backyard, frontyard or even growing some in pots?
My meager efforts started late this time like almost a week back but had to do a lot with cleaning up winter and last fall’s mess. Then applying fertilizer on entire lawn. I still do see many seeds.
And then I planted a large bunch of plants divided in the categories of perennial, annual and tropical.
Wutever the tulips I grew last year didnt show up at all so had to scratch out the soil completely.
Share your stories folks and especially if possible, with pics. :k:

I grow parsley and mint in my kitchen.
Its fantastic!!
And my neighbor grow tomatoes. Like old farmers we freeze them and use them year round.
They taste eons apart from the ones we buy from the farmers market.

I dig. Oifu is the brains. Doing a raised bed now to replace old tomato and jucchini plants.Crabgrass took over the plot. Almost finished digging. Plants arrive next week I think.
A colleague gave us strawberries last year. We didn't get notn last year. This year the first few were destroyed by birds. So I shot them all. Now we are getting a bounty - relatively speaking. Yes, as Basanti said - they taste eons apart.
We also had a vegetable patch growing mints chillies egg plants and some other dadabadality - rosemary basil pimiento. Grass overtook that. So digging up that also.
PS I was using Kindle in the morning and accidentally ended in chat room while trying to close widnow. Some usual suspects were there. Immediately left since didn't want to be fly on the wall. (Off topicnplease).

Haven't planted anything....it's been bloody raining here like every single day....got few days of sunshine and spent those mowing the lawn and getting rid of the weeds. I've got this lavender sitting in the pot...need to plant it.

Isnt Parsley and mint easiest to grow?
A couple of years we digged and made long lanes in our backyard to grow some good veges but guess what, our squirrels were so sharp they digged in deeper somehow and managed to eat all the roots. No veges since then

Great thread Sid. Here is my measly contribution.
This pot has mint and cilantro growing
This is where most of our mint is. This stuff is so tasty and smells awesome
This patch is something that I prepared 3 4 weeks ago and wife planted some stuff. It has raspberry, tomatoes, cucumber, pepper and zucchini (hopefully) coming up. In the background, you can see my chicken coop, that i built from scratch.
Meet Samantha, Serena, Snowflake, and Smokey
Cant take credit of that. The credit of these front yard bushes should go to the previous owner
There are 6 or 7 rose bushes, each with a different shade of rose.
Re: So you think you can plant? Share your efforts
Every bush is loaded with roses, except for the second from the right in the last pic (one after the yellow rose). The bush is of white roses. The buds just coming out.
We dont need lisc for chickens, but the limit within the city limit is 5, and they should be female. No rooster allowed. No eggs yet either. It will be 2 more weeks before we would see any.

WHAT IS THIS MIRACLE CALLED "SPRING" YOU ALL SPEAK OF?! lol, I live in Dubai and it would be amazing if for a day a bird wouldn't fall from the sky onto your windshield because it's SO hot outside. It would be the turn of the century if anything but date palms grew here (i'm not talking about the incredible effort the government puts into bringing exotic plants that need CONSTANT care by specialists to have them thrive in our environment and temperatures). Also, having a backyard in this sea of concrete apartments would be amazing. And for those of you who say, grow something in your balcony, either the dying birds eat your crop or the plants don't survive the heat. We're talking 47 degrees C at 12 noon, that's 116.6 F for you Americans (lord knows when you lot will catch up with the rest of the world, lol) sigh, plant lovers shouldn't live on this side of the world where you can make an egg on the hood of your car.
Rant over, I'll just enjoy all your pictures till then. :)

Yes it is — thats why I grow it. muahahhahahh
My husband has the greenest thumb ever and I’m a plant murderer. He tends to the chameli and money plants - I stick to my mint and parsley.

uff, that's over exaggeration. That's 100 selfies in my entire life :P lol, indoor plants, i tried growing my own rosemary, lasted for two weeks, made a whole lot of roast chicken, potatoes and all that fun stuff. After the rosemary died, so did my wish for making roast chicken. i think i may have watered it too much. :/
