She was putting words in his mouth. Take the part where she brings up a the 9% wage gap between men and women in the UK. He counters by saying it might seem that way, however, that difference is due to multiple variables, gender being one of them as opposed to being the only one. She counters by saying that’s not true. What kinda reply is that. She could at least bring up some research that says gender has an effect on wages even when the effects of other variables are accounted for.
She then pivots to, “You’re saying it doesn’t matter if women aren’t making it to the top”, he counters by saying he never said that and he said the wage gap can be attributed to multiple reasons. She goes bla bla bla then, “there exists a 9% pay gap between men and women. I’m not saying why it exists but it exists”. She doesn’t care about the why. She just wants to use the 9% wage gap without factoring in the other variables at play because it helps her narrative. I’m not impressed.
Also, he repeatedly says he’s in favor of equal of opportunity. However, equal opportunity cannot and does not guarantee equal outcome.
