So where do we go from here? I need to blame someone....

Re: So where do we go from here? I need to blame someone....

On original post, First of all I am hurt but not that much hurt may be because my expectations with this team/preparation were not as high as it was with previous teams specially of 2003 and 2007.

and if I have to pick 1 thing that we need to improve quickly, thats FIELDING. Cup really "slipped" out of our hand. Tendulkar was dropped at 27 and he went on to make 80+ score. Thats 50+ runs right there and even more from the difference of runs, its the momentum and pressure that wicket can put on the batting side (specially if thats the wicket of Tendulkar). We need to do something about fielding before anything else.

As far as bowling is concerned, our bowling performed well (alright other than first 6-7 overs). We should not forget that they were up against very strong batting lineup and to restrict India to 260 after the start they got, I'd say they came out good.

Batting is my 2nd concern after fielding. Pakistan's bottle-neck was Misbah/Younus's dot balls. Balls that they did not score on and put unnecessary pressure. I have been saying this from even before the WC that we are reading too much in Misbah/Younus's performance during NZ tour. We can only afford one of Yousuf, Younus or Mishab in middle order and that too for next 12 months only. Just so youngster can learn and build around experience player. With youngster like Asad showing signs that he can be the anchor of future lineup around whome other batsmen can play

and last but not the last, WICKET KEEPER. We need a KEEPER-BATSMAN and not BATSMAN-KEEPER. I think we have given enough chances and time to Kamran to regain his form or to fix his technical errors. I can not believe that with the country that has solid domestic structure, we dont have any keeper better than AKMAL.

Re: So where do we go from here? I need to blame someone....

One great positive -

Pakistan Cricket lives on !!

All that is needed is if the PCB's charge is given to some one really deserving then Pakistan cricket can become less unpredictable and more professional. Natural talent in cricket grows in Pakistan like wild flowers. So its just a matter of a professional cricketer or administrator with some solid cricketing knowledge to be at the helm.

I guess this article below would work here since this article about Zulqarain “Sell Out/Traitor” Haider does not deserve a new thread

WC defeat should be probed, says Zulqarnain
our correspondent
Thursday, March 31, 2011
LAHORE: Former Pakistani wicketkeeper Zulqarnain Haidar questioned the defeat in semi-final of the World Cup 2011 against India and asked the higher authorities to probe the poor performance of the players.

In his status on social networking website Facebook, he asked the higher management of Pakistan cricket team to investigate the poor performance of the players during the big match. He said who had criticised him in the past and declared him a psycho patient be asked to probe the incumbent team players.

He said the players should take oath on the holy Quran that they were not involved in any kind of match fixing. He said he would soon expose the Pakistani players who were involved in match fixing.

Earlier, he claimed that some Pakistani players were involved in match fixing but due to threats by unidentified bookies he did not reveal the names of those players. Last year, Zulqarnain abandoned the Pakistani team during a series against South Africa at a neutral place.

He said he went to London as he received life threats from some unknown bookies. Instead of probing the matter, Pakistan Cricket Board termed him a psycho patient.

Not picking Ahmad Shezad, picking both Younis and Misbah (rather than only one of them), having Afridi come after Razzaq are some avoidable mistakes - the think tank should take blame for that.

i read this on fb.

" We congratulate India on winning the semi-finals. As a good-will gesture, India can keep Pakistan’s prime minister. And if it wins the finals, we will give our president too.”

Re: So where do we go from here? I need to blame someone....

Lets move forward and keep faith in the nation, the raw talent of Pakistanis, the undying spirit to overcome the biggest obstacles and the dream to be -

Re: So where do we go from here? I need to blame someone....

so what about junaid khan....what was he doing there? eating parathas and bowling in net sessions?...didn't even play against associates... how old is he....24 on cricinfo....so it means he is at least 28....may be too old so waqar did not waste anytime on him...

one more thing...please get the correct birth certificates for all the players. I have been saying this for a long time…don’t do anything...just get the right birth certificates…younis khan is not 33..he is at least 36 if not more (he admitted himself in a press conference in 2008 that it is hard to play t-20 cricket at age of 33/34)…razak, afridi, misbah, yoyo all of them are 3 to 4 years older than their advertised age…no wonder their hand-eye coordination is out of order now…also get it right for younger players so that we can kick them out when it is the time to do so...
