What did you buy for your baby but ended up not using at all or very little ( making it not worth buying).
I’ll start!
I got the whole Tommee Tippee bottles set and got the microwave sterilizer with it. I ended up using it just a couple of times cuz it was much easier to wash the bottles and put them in the dishwasher.
I also did not really use my Beaba electric bottle warmer :-/ It’s way more convenient to just heat the water in the microwave. I kept it in the kitchen cuz I thought I might start using it when baby would start solids ( and heat the foodjars) but nope, I only give her fresh homemade food so did not use it!
Got too many babyclothes in the same sizes! I learned a few sets of clothes in every size is more than enough (cuz you get so many gifts).
Got the bellybutton bands ( to protect the bellybutton) but never used them cuz the diaper would cover that area.
That was just from the top of my head, will add more later.
Please add yours!
Hmmm the only thing I can think of is car seat. No matter how hard I try my daughter won't sit in it and honestly because of lack of implementation of laws we don't really have to put her in car seat and she instead sits on my lap. I think I wasted my money on it. Otherwise I did not get a chance to do much shopping before she was born just a set of mittens and a cap were all I had :)
I agree, the baby car seat/carrier was the most useless. initially we didn't take the baby out much and by the time he was ready for socializing he had outgrown the 10 kg weight limit
But for us a bouncer was the most useful, we got the one with the vibrating chair and music and hanging toys
woww shinnooo.. most of these things I dun even know that they exist.. the bellybutton bands... they sound adorable!!!
car seat is a must in the US.. they don;t let you bring baby home from the hospital so it will not be a waste here.. I didn't know there were car seats in Pakistan.. i wonder if we will take ours there or not and if yes if we will use it or not!!!
everyone says not to buy too many baby clothes.. do you guys realize baby clothes is something that a mommy to be has no control over.. I had dresses hanging in my closet even before we started trying!!! I love baby clothes!!!!
for me baby cot was the most un used item i bought for my kids, because both of my kids never slept in that, wen ever i put them in it they wakeup and start cryin....so they endup sleeping wid me:)

Baby rocker i think was waste of money as i had to buy baby swing later and it is very useful.
travel cot is totally waste of money
Wow! For us, these were two of the most used items. We travel at least a few times a year, and the travel cot (playard) came in VERY handy. We had no problems following her usual bedtime routine no matter where we were. The rocker came in handy for us up until her 2nd birthday -- probably a bit longer than most kids.
I don't think there was anything we bought that we didn't use or feel the need for. I hadn't bought a bassinet 'cause a lot of people told me it's a waste, but we ended up getting one as a gift, and to my surprise, we used it for the first SIX months!
We also used every single thing we bought. I cannot remember anything that i thought was useless. Except for maybe the diaper bag. I spent a lot of money on mine and honestly a simpler, cheaper one would have done the trick. i still use it but not as much. Now its much easier to grab an extra diaper in my large purse along with a sippy cup and snacks.
I dont think so there was anything we did not use or was useless.I did not use some bottles because I switched to Dr.brown's and now 2 sippy cups have been useless so far.
My daughter used her swing/bouncer but I think she could have used it more....
I also think I shopped sensibly...although in the beginning I wanted to get every thing but when the time came I avoided a lot of impulse buys, hence useless stuff.
^ I agree with the diaper bag. It's not very necessary, except for the first two/three months when you carry a lot of extra things for the baby (clothes, diapers, bottles, etc.) By the time my little guy was about 5 months old, I just throw in a spare change of clothes, and a few diapers into my messenger bag and I'm good to go.
The one thing that I don't find very useful is a changing table. I had one given to me as a gift when I had my first son, and I hardly used it. Majority of the times, I just changed his diapers on the bed. So much easier :p
And don't buy too many newborn clothing! I know they all look so cute, and you want to buy everything, but the baby will outgrown the clothes within a few weeks, and then you'll have to go buy more. So buy more bigger size clothing, instead of newborn :D
^^ change table is a blessing! I don’t have to bend down 8 times a day and hold that pose for a few mins while changing the baby’s diaper i guess perhaps I’m at a height disadvantage in this case
plus, all the storage underneath comes in so handy to keep all the diapers/creams/clothes/all the other baby stuff…
didn't use - portable playpen, bassinet, bouncer (used swing instead), short sleeve or summer clothes for young babies, baby liners, baby wipe warmer, mobile on top the crib
used almost everyday - carseat, stroller, high chair, swing, sterilizer, bottle warmer,
i think we used nearly everything we got... cept for a few items..
tummy band to relieve gas (you use a hot iron to press it and then fold it over the baby's tummy when it has gas or is contipated)... didnt use it cuz midget rarely got constipated or had gas.
a whole lot of soothers and avent wide neck bottles... my son hated soothers and wasnt a fan of the wide neck nipple which was a pity.. i had to try out so many before i foudn dr.browns. i have a bag full of all sorts of bottles and sooters. argh.
breast feeding accessories like nipple pads, special bottles for bfeeding.. i didnt buy these but got them as gifts... my silly son didnt like to be breast fed so they all went to a waste.. i believe i re gifted them to a cow of a friend with twins hehe..
sleeping bag ... my mom gave me 2... i never got around to using them cuz once again my son ruined it for me by being a major mover and shaker in bed... he hated the feel of restriction... i thought it was good for him cuz he always throws his covers off... even as a tiny baby... but nopes.. he simply wouldnt have me sack him. sighz
otherwise i moved it all.... my best best buys?
travel cot which we used along with his crib mattress to make it extra comfy for him for when we were out of the home... LOVED it
bottle warmer for night feeds... god this was HEAVEN.. midget expected a bottle in his mouth the min he woudl wake up and god help me if i was measuring the water and formula.. he would refuse teh bottle then... so this was atleast i had the water measured in teh bottle with teh bottle in the heater ... all i had to do was mix in teh pre measured milk... this was god sent!
i too thought i could change the baby on the bed but nopes. my back starts to hurt every time i try... so i still use the changint table.
I also used most of the stuff especially all the items that are costly like crob, swing, play gym, jumperoo, carseat, stroller, etc
I couldn't use:
Breastfeeding items- i couldn't breastfeed as my son had a preference for one breast over another! :-/ i was only able to use my electric pump for 2 months.
Burp cloths- i only used them in the beginning and then realized that recieving blankets make better burp cloths!!
Wide neck bottles- he didn't like them. He only wanted the regular ones.
Boppy pillow- I think I only used it 2-3 times max. It was pretty useless to me.
I disagree about diaper bag not being usefull. Well, I tried to use a large purse for my son's things but it didn't really work for me. I think diaper bag is a must especially in first 6 months and even after that you still want to carry extra clothes along with diapers, wipes, rash cream, vaseline, formula, bottle(s),burp cloth, bib etc...I like to keep my purse neat and clean and free of baby stuff plus i have my own dozen things that I like to stuff in my handbag! :D
