On the contrary I bought premie sized clothing and more newborn clothing rather than the 0-3 months size after my kids were born as I found the 0-3 months and some newborn ones too big. And no, my children were neither premies nor too small. Son was close to 8 lbs and 20 and a half inches and daughter was 8 lbs 5 oz and 20 inches.
True sgc.... I only got a few newborn...my son wore them for a a wwk and half only...and then it was straight of to 3-6 month clothing... He toon after my husband who is huge... Thank god i didnt have them go to waste since i didnt have a lot.
Ure husband is mashallah quite tall too...i would go for the 3-6 month range and if when the baby comes, u find them too big u can also get a smaller size.

Strange. We did the mistake of buying too many preemie cloths at the birth of our first child and many were not wore even one time. We learned the lesson and did not repeat the mistake 2nd time.
^ really?? whoa. everyones told me to get a handful of 0-3's and more 3-6's cos they grow out of them smaller size so fast!
That is what was true for me. I am tall but my husband is average. My children take after their dad and they didn't grow that fast after birth and were on the 50th percentile. I also heard that I didn't need small sized clothing that much but had to buy them later. It also depends upon how much you care about that sort of thing really. My freind whose daughter was close to 8 lbs too and grew like a weed afterwards bought premie sized too (just a couple) so that the baby would be wearing clothes that fit instead of too big clothing when people came to visit. We didn't get a lot of wear out of them, maybe a month or two but for me it was worth it. I am a tall broad kind of person but hubby's side of the family is not, kids take after him. If you do feel the need to buy small size clothing later , make sure you get ones that don't have feet attached (the kind where you don't have to put socks on them), you will get more wear out of them. Actually that's true for all size infant clothing.

Everyone told me the same thing so I only bought 0-3 and 3-6 months and no newborn clothes. Peanut was 6 pounds 12 oz poor guy swims in all his clothes......its only been a week so far so hopefully he'll grow into them soon.
I was not able to breastfeed my babies so that stuff got wasted but we used everything we got. My friends told me before not to buy preemie clothes or zero size diapers so it saved us sometime and money.
