So Moms, how did YOU know...?

Aside from the more overt biological signs, how did you know you were pregnant? Some women just have “a feeling.” Was that the case for you?

Re: So Moms, how did YOU know...?

Haha i thought i was getting a UTI and a really painful period coming. But other than that i refused to believe even when i saw the pregnancy test go positive within seconds.

Re: So Moms, how did YOU know...?

Yeah I think the feeling was there.

Re: So Moms, how did YOU know...?

Yeh, I had the "feeling."

Re: So Moms, how did YOU know...?

Ha -- so what's the "feeling" like?

Re: So Moms, how did YOU know...?

^Are you having a 'feeling' Sahar? ;-)

Re: So Moms, how did YOU know...?

WHOAAA!! congrats ira!!!!

Re: So Moms, how did YOU know...?

ya.. lets talk bout this feeling :D other than the symptoms.. how does one really know.. hmmm?

Re: So Moms, how did YOU know...?

"Physically" the feeling is like a dragging feeling at the base of the stomach - in the uterus area - it sort of feels heavy. This is the feeling that comes with the rest of the symptoms

"Mentally" - you just know, it's not a feeling that you can explain though! You just put 2+2 together!

Re: So Moms, how did YOU know...?

khawa, unfortunately i had a miscarriage at 10 weeks.

Re: So Moms, how did YOU know...?

I'm so sorry to hear of your experience Ira - I know how it feels to be in that situation.

May Allah SWT fulfill all our wishes to be parents, Insha Allah

Re: So Moms, how did YOU know...?

It's funny how for couple of months every time I will be tired or feel sick, I would think this is it.. I am "feeling" it and even funnier was when I would do make up or look pretty some day my husband would have the "feeling." :D by the way, we weren't even planning kids hence it was just weird!!

Re: So Moms, how did YOU know...?

I am one of thoese unfortunate women who are totally NOT intuned with thier own body and what their bodies are signaling to them. Some one has to be tell me Hey Hina you have a bunch of hair turning white at the right side of your head and I am like oh! really? Peole comment hey did you shed some pounds I pause for a minute and say I don't think so and sure enough when I really think about it and try out clothes that werent fitting last time I tried..they fit now.

So to answer your question: No I never did got the feeling that I was carrying life..first time it was planned and expected and home pregnancy test showd the inevitable. The second time, though not unplanned exactly, certainly wasn't expected that soon( first time it took us six months to concieve, second time less them two months ) My periods arrive clockwise every month so the very first day they were late I bought a pregnancy tet and found I was pregnant.

Re: So Moms, how did YOU know...?

Well for me, I never actually went as far as getting the 'feeling'. As soon as I missed my period I took a pregnancy test, my husband and I have been trying for about a year. My first test came back negative which was quite devastating because this was our final chance before we got any medical help but because I tested to early the result was inaccurate, so the following week when my period had still not arrived I took a test again and it came back positive. I was so shocked and shaking like a leaf when I read my results... I couldn't get the words out of my mouth and my hubby was waiting in anticipation when he saw the plus sign, he knew what it meant and asked me, so you're pregnant and all I could do was nod. lol But I didn't let that test get to me because I wanted to be entirely sure I did it correctly so I took another test the next evening and like a deja vu it was the same result...

I made an appointment the next day to see what my next step was and the gp congratulated me and my hubby and so did the receptionist and gave me an appointment for this Thursday actually...so am quite nervous how this hour long appointment will go... As far as I am aware I am 8 weeks gone.. still early stages and since week 5 I have had feelings of bloatiness and heavy lower abdomen and tiredness on week 6 I started getting nauseous and have been having trouble eating, can't take certain smells and tastes and had to cut down on spicy food as it now gives me heartburn and indigestion. I'm going to the bathroom a lot more these days too.

Anyway, I'll let you know how Thursday goes :)
Please do Dua for us and that things go well throughout my pregnancy... :)

Re: So Moms, how did YOU know...?

SweetOne, Just take it easy, and follow whatever your doctor says in terms of eating, vitamins, checkups, etc. But plz also do not dwell on any thoughts, esp any worrisome or negative thoughts, just pray and Inshallah you will be fine. Any worry can only add stress which is not good for you. Eat healthy, do moderate exercise...just take it easy & enjoy. Pray it goes well for you.

As for me, I dunno about having a feeling, not sure. My period is usually on time, but I was having a strange abdominal pain, somewhat like cramps but weird and sometimes very painful, even streaking. I thought I was getting my monthly, had no idea I was pregnant. When it got to be about 7 days over I pretty much knew I was preggo. I did have a UTI though at the same time. The doctor thought maybe the pain was from UTI or implantation bleeding. I was i think almost 4 weeks preg when I found out. Looking back I do remember being super tired in past few weeks, and falling asleep at the wheel on my way to school. Maybe it was cuz of that...hmm.

Re: So Moms, how did YOU know…?

I think if someone is planning to have kids, they may realise they are pregnant even before a missed period, due to the symptoms etc. That said and done, i know plenty of people who didnt have the feeling but infact were pregnant. And then there are other months where they thought they were but actually werent. So i dont think the feeling is always there. Just a personal opinion. Although you only get “the feeling” because of physical symptoms to begin with perhaps.

sweetone: Congrats! May you have a healthy and happy pregnancy, Ameen.

Wannabemum: :hugz:

Re: So Moms, how did YOU know...?

I had a feeling the first time...cant describe it but was debating that i should take a test soon. That evening, we went to family friends house for dinner and a 5 yr old girl who I never met before came up to me and told me "You look like a mummy"....the very next day I took the test and found I was indeed pregnant!!

Re: So Moms, how did YOU know...?

I think the second that egg met swimmer, I started to get leg and foot cramps and a really bad back ache. This happened with all 5 of my pregnancies.

With the miscarriages, I started to have bad tummy cramps around week 8 or 9. Both times I knew something was wrong. With the other 3, I knew all was well.

Re: So Moms, how did YOU know...?

Its so hard to tell. With me, it was my 1st and only pregnancy. I had horrible lower abdominal cramps and shooting pains for the 1st 4 months, also I was bleeding a lot. Doctor even gave me the talk of how sometimes its not meant to be, sometimes its the body's way of recycling...etc. But the little guy was meant to come into this world, after what seemed like months on bed rest, it turned out ok in the end. I pray for all to have a healthy pregnancy.

Re: So Moms, how did YOU know…?

Ira: I’m sorry to hear that. :hugz:
