So leave them, [O Muhammad], for you are not to be blamed.

So leave them, [O Muhammad], for you are not to be blamed.

[Quran 51:54]

The job of the Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) was to convey the message that Allah had sent him (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) with. His (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) job was not to guide the people. Only Allah guides. That is why Allah says in the Qur’aan:
**
Indeed, [O Muhammad], you do not guide whom you like, but Allah guides whom He wills. And He is most knowing of the [rightly] guided.
**
[Quran 28:56]

Therefore, Allah told his Messenger (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) to turn away from the polytheists once he (sallalaahu alayhi wa sallam) had conveyed the message.

And He reassured His Messenger (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) that he (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) was not to be blamed as he (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) had done the job which he (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) had been given which was to convey the Message of Allah.

In these Verses is a lesson for us Muslims. The Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) could not guide but only convey the message. If he (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) could not guide, then neither can we.

Our purpose is, thus, only to convey the Message of Allah, in the best manner possible, to those who do not believe.

As for guidance, then only Allah gives guidance to whom He Wills.

Tafsir Al-Tabari

Re: So leave them, [O Muhammad], for you are not to be blamed.

The interpretation of the verse is** "Indeed you [can not] guide whom[ever] you like [meaning you are a guide] but Allah guides whom He wills [Allah guides and chooses them] And He is most knowing of the [inc those who will be] [rightly] guided.
**

**[Raad 13:7] The disbelievers say, “Why is not a sign sent down upon him from his Lord?” You are purely a Herald of Warning, and a guide for all nations.

[Shoora 42:52] And this is how We sent the divine revelation to you (O dear Prophet Mohammed - peace and blessings be upon him) - a life giving thing, by Our command; neither did you know the Book nor the detailed commands of religion, but We have made this Qur’an a light by which We guide whomever We will from Our bondmen; and indeed you surely do guide to the Straight Path.**

Only for those who are not given faith, be it disbelievers or hypocrites. Prophethood is to guide

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah’s Apostle said, “You see me facing the Qibla; but, by Allah, nothing is hidden from me regarding your bowing and submissiveness and I see you from behind my back.” [Bukhari]

Re: So leave them, [O Muhammad], for you are not to be blamed.

What does ‘guide’ mean here? Sorry, I cannot digest it if it means guiding people who are willing to follow you.

How about the people willing to believe but need guidance?

Re: So leave them, [O Muhammad], for you are not to be blamed.

Vroom I suggest you move away from the Brawlvi translations, learn Arabic, and read the Tafsirs of the Imams of the 4 Madhabs for a better understanding of what the Quran says!

I agree though the word not a guide was not the best way to put it in English and it should have been he does not give guidance but I know that was not the main qualm you had as my following posts about Abu Talib will show.

Re: So leave them, [O Muhammad], for you are not to be blamed.

Ibn Katheer writes in his Tafsir

The Exalted says to his Messenger, salawaat Allah a salaamah 'alayhi, Indeed you O Muhammad (Indeed you do not guide whom you love): meaning You do not have that right. Only propagating the message is incumbent upon you. And Allah guides who He Wills.

Imam Al-Baghawi - a Shaafi - notes in his Tafsir

Mujaahid (a Tabi’ whose knowledge in Tafsir everyone recognized) and Maqaatil said: It was revealed regarding Abu Taalib. The Prophet (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) said to him: Say There is no god except Allah, so I may bear witness for you on the day of Day of Judgement. He (Abu Talib) said: Were it not the fear of the Quraysh blaming me (and) saying that it was the fear of (approaching death) that induced me to do so, I would have certainly delighted your eyes. It was then that Allah revealed: " Verily thou canst not guide to the right path whom thou lovest. And it is Allah Who guideth whom He will and He knoweth best who are the guided" (xxviii-56).

Hadith is also in Sahih Muslim

**Imam Al-Qurtubi**a Maaliki says Al-Zujaaj says:

قوله تعالى : إنك لا تهدي من أحببت قال الزجاج : أجمع المسلمون على أنها نزلت في أبي طالب

The scholars of Tafsir are unanimously agreed that this verse was revealed regarding Abu Talib.

I know you as a Brawlevi (excuse my inability to spell the name of your sect) will find this hard to digest, but hey a Salafi or Ahl Al-Hadith did not write those Tafsirs but Maalikis and Shaafis did.

Re: So leave them, [O Muhammad], for you are not to be blamed.

Sorry for the not so good English. His job was not to give guidance. Guidance is only from Allah. He gave people the message Allah sent him (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) but it was only Allah who choose who would come to Islam. The Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) did not choose who became Muslim and who remained a Kaafir. That is why the majority of scholars of all the 4 Madhabs have said that Abu Talib is a prime example of a man who died a Kaafir despite the fact that the Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) wanted him to die a Muslim.

Only a minority oppose this but their opinion and evidences are of no value.

Re: So leave them, [O Muhammad], for you are not to be blamed.

wait…we have issues here. lets keep it simple.

  1. (Indeed you do not guide whom you love)

means The Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi wa Ahlihi wa Sallam is a Guide

Re: So leave them, [O Muhammad], for you are not to be blamed.

My questions is:

Is this ‘guidance’ for only those people who are not Muslim?

Re: So leave them, [O Muhammad], for you are not to be blamed.

Peace kakaballi,

‘Guidance’ is for whole human kind.

Re: So leave them, [O Muhammad], for you are not to be blamed.

You see that is where the problem comes in when you try to oversimplify an issue which is not simple as it seems because then you can lead to conclusions which are incorrect.

To say if the Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) is a guide would first require an answer as to which guidance we are going to talk about. A guide guides which means he gives guidance (which is the verbal noun of the verb guide).

So, let’s first define guidance in Islam

Guidance of evidence and explanation
Guidance of Tawfeeq (i.e. giving a person the ability to do what is required)

26) has written in his Tafsir التحرير والتنوير

“And guidance in His Saying 'And Indeed you guide..” is general guidance and it is advising people to good and is opposed to the guidance mentioned in His saying: 'We guide by it he who We Will…"

Thus, unless you first agree to this we can’t enter into a discussion as we will not be on the same page. And if you agree to this, then the word guide can be and has been used for every Messenger who was ever sent to any nation.

Re: So leave them, [O Muhammad], for you are not to be blamed.

My first post does explain the matter sufficiently - I was not expecting any back chat or tar tar - Its a set of clear cut [extreme] mistakes and likely to have more sinister motive/shaitanic influence. There is no need for far off topics because you gave your basis and opinions here, and they have not been taken out of context. the statements are just plain wrong, as is the interpretation you based it on

  1. Firstly you made incorrect interpretation of the Ayat - this shows your intent and aqeedah

The verse was revealed to comfort The Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi wa Ahlihi wa Sallam

The verses actually tells us RasoolAllah SallAllahu Alaihi wa Ahlihi wa Sallam is a guide, and that’s what He SallAllahu Alaihi wa Ahlihi wa Sallam does

and you said:

Which is just not true in both statements because Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala says[interpretation]: ‘‘Indeed you do not guide whom you like’’ alternatively better interpreted as ‘’ ‘’[Qasas 28:56] Indeed it is not such that you can guide whomever you love..‘’
means:

  1. RasoolAllah SallAllahu Alaihi wa Ahlihi wa Sallam does guide as part of Prophethood and Messenger-ship

  2. Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala Guides as Allah, and RasoolAllah SallAllahu Alaihi wa Ahlihi wa Sallam guides as RasoolAllah [Haadi]

  3. and you said:

Which again is not true, because this only applies to those Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala chose to be munafiqs and disbelievers, but according to you this is your aqeedah. OK -

but to convey this message as part of your teachings is very harsh on the misguided whom will, and there is plenty of them, who will be attracted to you

Re: So leave them, [O Muhammad], for you are not to be blamed.

Erm, I am happy with my sources, you should read but you do read, so what’s gone wrong, is the verse speaking about the likes of you not being able to be guided? and ‘‘not a guide’’ was clear cut wrong, ie NOT not the best way to put it but clear cut wrong

btw The Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi wa Ahlihi wa Sallam gives Guidance, so your still wrong because your aqeedah and purpose is just wrong.

Nope, nothing to do with my motivation for speaking against you. and no arguments against it being revealed regarding Abu Talib, it was

The need to speak against falsehood was my motivation

Re: So leave them, [O Muhammad], for you are not to be blamed.

Well then you are speaking against all the Madhabs scholars. The Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) does not give guidance of Tawfeeq. That is agreed. Nor is he Kull Mukhtar. The only falsehood is of that of your sect. So enjoy!

Btw I did not know you were so ignorant regarding the issue of guidance in Islam that when I wrote the Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) does not guide you failed to realize that it was guidance of Tawfeeq I was talking about!

Not only that you changed my words from the OP to was not a guide. I still can’t find those words in the OP. Come to think of it you twisted my WORDS!! Bad Bad now vroom, naughty aren’t we!!!

You need to study a little harder dear.

"Indeed, you (Muhammad) do not guide he whom you love but Allah guides he whom He wills. And He is most knowing of the [rightly] guided.**

Ibn Katheer writes:

Allah is most knowledgeable of who deserves guidance from him who deserves misguidance. And it has been established in the Two Sahihs (Sahih Al-Bukhaari and Sahih Muslim) that this verse was revealed regarding Abu Talib the uncle of the Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam). He had helped him and stood in his rows and loved him dearly but this love was that which had to do with nature and not the Shaari’ah. And so when death approached him (i.e. Abu Talib) the Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) called him toward 'Imaan and to enter into Islam but destiny overtook him and he remained on the disbelief he was and to Allah belongs the complete wisdom.

The Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) desired dearly that his uncle die a Muslim. He called him toward Imaan and Islam but since ALLAH DID NOT GUIDE him, he died a Kaafir. The Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) does not guide whom he loves but Allah guides whom He Wills.

Just like the Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) only had the duty of spreading the Message and calling toward Islam (termed guidance of making evident) it is our duty to call toward Islam.

BUT only ALLAH GUIDES WHOM HE WILLS. A re post for those who might have gotten lost in vrooms incorrect rhetoric.

Looks like it is vroom vs Ibn Katheer, Imam Al-Qurtubi, Imam Al-Tabari, Imam Al-Baghawi

There is still time to return to Jamah vroom, I call you toward it before it is too late for you. Do not separate from the Jamah.

Re: So leave them, [O Muhammad], for you are not to be blamed.

And it is not for a soul to believe except by permission of Allah , and He will place defilement upon those who will not use reason.

[10:100]

**And most of mankind will not believe even if you desire it eagerly. **

**[12:103]

**This is joined to the Verse “Then, [O Muhammad], would you compel the people in order that they become believers?” [10:99] to reassert its subject matter because the subject matter is to deny that the Prophet (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) had any power to compel mankind to Imaan because it is only Allah who is able to do that.

Al-Tahreer Al-Tanweer]

Imam Al-Qurtubi writes in his Tafsir

He (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) thought that the Arabs would believe when they asked him about this incident (of Yusuf) and he informed them. Then this Verse was revealed as a consolation to the Prophet (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) meaning that you do not have power over the guidance of the person whose guidance you intend.

**Not upon you, [O Muhammad], is [responsibility for] their guidance, but Allah guides whom He wills

[2:272]

Perhaps, [O Muhammad], you would kill yourself with grief that they will not be believers.

[26:3]

**Imam Al-Baghawi writes in his **Tafsir

**This was when the people of Makkah denied the Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) and that became very hard upon him and he desired eagerly that they believe. Then Allah revealed this Verse. (Note the Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) desired eagerly that people believe but since only Allah has the power to guide to Iman - guidance of Tawfeeq - they would not believe unless Allah wanted them to believe)

Imam Al-Tabari writes in his Tafsir

Qataadah said it means perhaps you because of your desire that they believe are going to cause your soul to come out of your body.

(This is how eagerly the Prophet (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) desired that the people become believers but Allah guides whom He wills and the Messenger does not guide whom he loves.)

And there it is. Only Allah gives Guidance to Imaan and not the Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) or anyone else. He (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) only calls to the straight path. He (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) guides (guidance of explanation) to the straight path but only Allah gives the Guidance to follow that path - guidance of Tawfeeq.

And when the Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) can only call to the Truth and only Allah can make one accept the Truth, then I am nothing. I only call to the what is true and agreed upon and only Allah can guide vroom in this respect. May Allah guide him and his likes and give them more knowledge. Ameen.

Re: So leave them, [O Muhammad], for you are not to be blamed.

With regards to my contention with your post you have made a few different excuses a) not the best way -admitting that the words were incorrect b) you meant something else c) You cant find words i quoted in your post

All three exits are in contradiction with each other. Can you specify which of these you want to represent you?

Also what the scholars have said is a little bit different to what you said. Your words and their arrogance towards Azmat e Mustafa is brand new

btw my contention has nothing to do with Mukhtar e Kul, although that is something that i believe in, under my own understanding [not under an understanding imposed by you] and i have my evidences and support for that. Perhaps if i get time I may reply on that but here is one of my Imams explaining the issue quickly https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f_9dUFP7dS0

but the subject here is your initial post!

Re: So leave them, [O Muhammad], for you are not to be blamed.

If HE did not make me accept the truth, and later put me in hell, HE would be an unfair God.

Re: So leave them, [O Muhammad], for you are not to be blamed.

You decide if you will end up in hell, thats why you have free will

But you shouldnt make statements like you did, Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala is not questioned, we are questioned

Re: So leave them, [O Muhammad], for you are not to be blamed.

I cannot access YouTube here. Perhaps a link on another site like dailymotion?

Are you saying that these scholars of the four Madhabs - Maaliki, Shaafi, Hanbali, Hanafi - are all wrong and showing arrogance while your sect, or school of thought, is the only true one which may I remind you came into being like what 300 years ago or something?

Or are you admitting that you do not know who these scholars are?
