Not just prevalent in desi folks, correct… but I am just looking from the desi perspective at this point.

Hareem, her concerns are somewhat along the lines of what Gr8Heera mentioned in his post plus more:

porn, openness, drugs and alcohol, she says you can’t trust people, boring, schools aren’t good, jobs don’t give perks and benefits like car with driver, you have to do groceries and iron your clothes yourself, no servants, maid are too expensive, houses are not nice, people complain if you make noise, don’t get to attend weddings as much, groceries are not halal, gosht smells, desi retaurants aren’t good, no jewelry shops, desi clothes are too expensive… do you want to hear more

With all due respect to every one in this thread every one who I heard saying those words "go back to pakistan" were from same area in pakistan.
For example my landlords son was talking to me and he goes"ppl come from pakistan with pak degrees and they complain so much-- why dont they go back"

I swear to God I have heard that phrase many times every time same group of ppl.

So I think ppl should avoid saying it period. In stead you could say "you can not deni good things this country has to offer"
or "what ever I love being here"

Or my fav"dude its(Canada) my home stop B--thing about it"

BUT UNDER NO CERUMSTANCE YOU SHOULD SAY GO BACK TO PAK.
I make you sound like some one is trying snach some thing away by staying here.

PM- agree with you 100% that 'move back' is not the only or right answer.

to me its nothign different than ppl complaining chrinicall about their inlaws or spouse. you cant just say okay then cut em off or divorce em respectively, but if you simply dont want to be teh audience of the whines at all times then you must do something to put an end to it.

mayeb something along the lines...yes I agree there are things that make living in this country challenging, but we have to live with the good and the bad. etc etc..

but if someone is just too miserable then honestly, maybe they need to do something about it, whether it is changing how they react to certain things, acceptance of other stuff, or really looking for a place that is a better fit.

lets use a simple thing, forget countries and all.

if perdson A was living in some small town in Iowa and felt that his needs were not being met, not enough entertainment options, cultural outlets, whatever..then either this person has to come to grips with the fact that he has a low cost of living and low crime rate and short commute etc etc and they balance his gripes with the place.

or..

if the need for entertainment options and cultural outlets etc is really important for him and all the good that small town us has to offer is not for him, then he should try to move to a bigger city

the scenario can be reverse for someone else..

in the end either someone has to accept the whole package, or reject it, but constantly whining about it is no solution

I don't know too many ppl. And among ppl I know usually greatly appreciate Canada.
Normally ppl refer it "we see more islamic system here then in muslim countries"

I usually change some ones oppnion politely and don't try to win argument.
So at times I just keep quite.

I did have a roomate who made like 6dig in amreeka and was job less in canada. He was here for his citizenship. he used to say bad stuff abuout canada.
I had serious fight with him, I told him It my homw you watch your mouth.
