Do you pour the salan/curry/whatever all over it, or do you keep it on teh side and mix it little by little?

I don't eat much rice as I prefer roti more. But when I do eat rice, I pour the salan on top.
With Chinese rice, I add ketchup and mix it in.

when its any other salan / curry I pour it on the side … but when it comes to any kind of daal , definitely on top of the rice
I have a bengali friend who serves rice in a special way .. she puts the cake tin on the plate .. pours in the curry /lentil … layers it with rice … then some more curry and finally the rice … and lifts the cake tin … and then she puts achar or chutney in the center of the white rice … and the salad cut into little chunks on to the sides of the rice cake.
It always looks so yummy 
It’s kinda funny, for my desi salan/daals, I always mix it in. But when I eat Thai curries, I always keep in on the side and mix it in little by little. You’ve made me think Sara, 
I wonder why I treat desi and Thai food differently - I hope I’m not discriminating against one or the other.

On sides and mixing little by little! I dont like the mixture look especially if you have curry, salad and yoghurt in there haha and I eat with a fork!

I usually pour the salan on the side.. Sometimes I mix it all together.
i tend to spoon salan or yoghurt into the middle of my rice, i dont mix it, though i used to when i was a kid, maybe i'll try it again soon lol

if the salan is shorba-ish ... i put it all over
if it is slightly thick gravy that wont spread everywhere, then on the side.
and i eat with fork. spoon gives the opportunity of being "annay wah" with food. fork helps with smaller bites :@:

Side or top, doesn't matter much.. and well sometimes depends upon the salan.. what I don't do however is, mixing up the whole thing..
