So at what age do you allow your girls

Re: So at what age do you allow your girls

She's your daughter and you obviously know best for her but 7 is so young! Girls are already growing older at a younger age and things like waxings or makeup or the clothes some girls wear now is not helping.

Re: So at what age do you allow your girls

Thats the most jahil thing I've ever heard of. Don't these people know that most of the hair will fall off by itself. Waxing newborn children is cruel.

Re: So at what age do you allow your girls

i know its young and that is my logic. hair at young age if waxed, their roots get weaker and they get fewer as the kid grows. I have seen girls who were waxed with atta as new born and now they r grown they are relatively hair free as us who grow hair like goats. i picked this age coz now she is some wat tolerant to pain as compared to when she was newborn and having a clean skin doesn't grow u older,it just gives u the right confidence. She has started getting conscious now so we did it with her consent. These days most girls hit puberty by age 9 so i don't see anything wrong in teaching them to be clean at early age.

I even wanted my boys to get their legs waxed but my hubby n they themselves think its just a girl's thing.
Have anyone noticed chinese(asian) girls n men have hair free bodies? i was thinking may be they do something to their kids coz i havn't seen any chinese man yet with hairy leg.

Re: So at what age do you allow your girls

its called genetics and hormones.

look at italians - they are as hairy as us desis, but they dont obsess it with as we do.

Some desi people are hairy, some..not so much.

i'm sorry, but waxing ur daughter at the age of 7 is just wrong.

if it were my daughter and she wants to do it, I woudl wait until she was into puberty. Mainly because at that age, she will be probably covered, so the waxing woudl be more for herself than anythign else. And if she doesnt want to do it, thats fine too.

Re: So at what age do you allow your girls

in terms of eyebrows, i pray she gets them from me and doesnt have to do them :D

but if she does have a unibrow, yes, its fine to fix it.

the mooch and other facial hair, again, when she hits puberty.

and by puberty i mean most likely when she hits grade 8 and will start high school soon.

Re: So at what age do you allow your girls

I've been waxing my arms and legs since I was like 11. I was quite hairy and even though I went to a girls school, I was very self conscious about being hairy. And then once i started I loved the feeling of being hair free. I started waxing my mustache myself at around 14 i think. Never did anything to my eyebrows.

Re: So at what age do you allow your girls

when i have kids i'A, i will not let them do it before puberty, if its something thats really bothering her, unibrow or mustache maybe around 10 but not before that. I know its not fun at all to be picked on by classmates for these things at such a young age :(

Re: So at what age do you allow your girls

When I said that girls are getting older sooner I didn't mean being hair free makes her older. I meant the act of waxing or worrying about hair free legs at the age of 7 ages a child. Also you mentioned teaching you're trying to teach your daughter to be clean at an early age...having hair on your arms and legs might not be apealing but doesn't make you un clean.

Re: So at what age do you allow your girls

I think I'd wax/pluck/thread as soon as things became a problem if they did. If I noticed hair, I'd get it removed.

For me, my mom never took me because I am not that hairy. I got my brows done for the first time at age 22...and even then it was just on a whim with a friend. My mom got really mad because they were too thin. I waxed when I got married.

For my sister, she went when she was very young...15 or so because she has more hair.

Re: So at what age do you allow your girls

wrong in wat sense? unethical, illegal, unreligious or child abuse? some things are wrong just in our head. so many caucasians and chinese let their kids dye hair or keep spikes as young as age 4 these days. pre-schooler go to school in nail-polish and no teacher would object. girls in grade 4-5 r wearing lip glosses and using bras and schools put no objection.. the cultural concept of right and wrong are always changing. and most girls get puberty at age 9-10 now i.e grade 4-5, not 12-13 anymore. also researches and medical doctors say it pose no risk to girls health if waxing is done at early age. the new norm in USA to get ur kids waxed at salons is age 12 now a day but thats only for bikini wax which is not needed b4 that i guess

for me it does look unclean unless its unnoticeable. waxing is not always to appeal opposite sex. its the way u take things. may be for some waxing is part of growing up. i think it should be part of staying neat. however i'm against doing eye brows that i feel unnatural.

Re: So at what age do you allow your girls

Hair dye, lip gloss, and having spiky hair doesn't cause physical pain to the child. You say the new norm for waxing is 12 is the US .... although I don't agree with that there is still a HUGE difference between a 12 year old girl and a 7 year old.

To each is own, your daughter your decisions.

Re: So at what age do you allow your girls

^ I think she did say that the waxing was done with her daugher's consent and she's good with pain tolerance. I don't think she's forcing her kid to the salon. As well, I don't think a 7 year old has that much hair anyway, and waxing hurts a lot more with longer, thicker hair than it does with fine "kid" hair.

A bikini wax is far more painful and adult, imho, than an arm and leg wax and most people here are pro-bikini at a younger age than pro-threading which I find a bit odd.

Re: So at what age do you allow your girls

Ditto to what Ramsha said. It could be borderline child abuse, yes. Might as well slap them silly while your at it. I understand if they were 10 okay, but a bechari 7 year old? that is just insane.

Re: So at what age do you allow your girls

Me too! I am confused by this.

Re: So at what age do you allow your girls

^ I dont understand the whole sentance LOL

Re: So at what age do you allow your girls

^ people are saying they would take their daughters for bikini waxing right when they need it, even at 11-13. whereas they'd wait until 16+ for threading on the face, etc.

Re: So at what age do you allow your girls

oh ok. maybe because Islamically they think the hair down there should be removed asap. but not so much for the facial hair. Which is odd because in Islam, I belive maintaining the facial hair (upper lip, beard, unibrow) should be done as well.

But there are other alternatives than waxing for a little girl. Use Veet.

Re: So at what age do you allow your girls

I wouldn't use Veet for bikini hair removal, or any hair removal cream actually. It darkens the skins or makes it patchy, i've seen that happen. Whilst I do not agree with girls as young as 7 getting waxed, my cousins started their period at 9, so islamically the hair needed to be removed and waxing is better than Veet.

Re: So at what age do you allow your girls

Also, Veet and such creams specify that they are not mean for use in the bikini area.

Re: So at what age do you allow your girls

^ that.

i think its pretty harsh to compare an arm wax to child abuse! waxing a 7 year old with her permission isn't child abuse. if she was being dragged to the salon kicking and screaming and being forced into it, then yes, i could see your point.
