So at what age do you allow your girls

Re: So at what age do you allow your girls

pubic hair should be done as soon as they start to appear. :disgust:

Re: So at what age do you allow your girls

I think I started waxing my upper lips at 16, and waxing arms, under arms and legs at around 13 or 14. I'm 19 and I still don't do my eyebrows, my mum won't let, but then again there are not bad. Most people tell me that mine look shaped already, but I do thread the area between the brows, I don't have a uni brow, but I don't like it.

I think when I have a daughter I would start her body waxing when she starts her periods, but if she happens to start at 9 or 10, i will probably wait till she is slightly older.

Re: So at what age do you allow your girls

In Pakistan, the waxing lady told me how she’d recently waxed a 40 day old baby. I was

I’d say 11/12 for legs and underarms and 16 for threading/arm waxing.

Re: So at what age do you allow your girls

^ Out of curiosity, if legs of tweens aren't shown would you still wax them?

Re: So at what age do you allow your girls

NO WAY…I’m sure it wasn’t really wax..but something else…I’ve read it here and heard about it in real life too, that you rub the baby with atta or something…removes excess hair and they grow up with hair that’s not too thick or prominent..

Re: So at what age do you allow your girls

Yes, I think so. At least that way she'll get used to the waxing. Plus it would be easier for her at school. Not being embarassed when changing for PE lessons.

She definitely said wax and I believe her. There's more to this story but I can't share it on here.

Re: So at what age do you allow your girls

The only thing I'll be strict about is a unibrow. and the mustache. Nothing more hideous than those two things.

Yikes!

Re: So at what age do you allow your girls

I started my periods at 9 and I would hate my little girl to have to go thru the pain of waxing at such a young age..

Generally speaking, I would let her start hair removal as early as she needs and wants to.. but nothing too excessive..

I got all of my facial hair removed before my year 11 prom because it was a point where I was leaving school and going to college. So my mum done it for me. Although I did have a lot of excess hair and removed my moustache by myself. Mum wasn't too happy!

But my sisters have it removed earlier than me. My second sister got her eyebrows done in year 10 but she's gets away with a lot of stuff like getting her nails done professionally and wearing a sari before she's married. Lol mums a bit iffy about a non-shaadi shuda Larki wearing a sari lol.

My other sister got everything done like me at the age of 16.

But my little sister who's 13 gets her moustache waxed because she gets teased about if at school :( annoys me because they all have fuzzy hairs above their lips but they just can't see it!

Regards to waxing arms/legs. All my sisters just do it themselves except the littlest one.

When it comes to when I have my own kids, I think I'll stick to how I got it done for facial hair unless they're really upset about it at school. I'll get like their moustache done. But not eyebrows until they're 16! Because it really makes a girl look jaawan lol.

And as for waxing...Erm pubic and underarm hair is a must as long as they're of suitable age. Other than that maybe arms could be waxed but legs..? Well they're not showing it so I dont see it as big of a deal?

Re: So at what age do you allow your girls

^What about legs for school skirts and swimming lessons..

At mine we weren't allowed to wear trousers as regular uniform..

Re: So at what age do you allow your girls

really?^ ERM well i suppose long skirt and thick wooly tights lol if worst comes to worst then yeh i suppose she can get her legs waxed.

Re: So at what age do you allow your girls

a little offtopic, but I think in most schools that do have uniform, they are okay with letting girls wear trousers..... In primary/jr high school, I remember girls had to wear only skirts....now when I pass by the school, I see girls in pants as well.
Also in HS, they did introduce slacks as an option (you could also wear a skirt if you wanted). guess they had enough parents who were asking for it, ALL the Muslim girls wore slacks..lol.

Re: So at what age do you allow your girls

Its so lovely to see the young Hailee Steinfeld with her untouched, virgin eyebrows (even if they're on slightly thicker side), the idea of 14 year old looking like 14 year old is still well and alive I guess. IMO young teenaged girls shouldn't really be bothered about eyebrows (unless its a uni brow), in fact I really enjoyed my natural eyebrows for as long as I could.

Re: So at what age do you allow your girls

depends on their hair growth--the earier the better so they have lighter hair later:)

Re: So at what age do you allow your girls

Just the flour, or actually atta (flour mixed with water, that you would make roti from)? Im asking, cause I have heard this one before aswell, and was always curious about it.

I have always had a lot of hair, got it from my dads side of the family :( So my aunt threaded my upper lip when I was 12, and I just kept it up after that. I started my eyebrows at 14...my mom wasnt happy about it, but I had bushy eyebrows!!!

I started doing my underarms after my first period. Arms I started around 15, and my legs I started at about 19-20, just because I never showed them anyway. these were all done with wax.

Re: So at what age do you allow your girls

Sara, Uzzybuzzy is right. A family member of mine did the same for her new born daughter. Waxed her facial hair, the atta thing was too tedious and not showing results quick enough. And she got the advice from her relatives who work in a salon that it is pretty common for women to bring their new born daughters to get them waxed. I was shocked too but after seeing it first hand I know it is done.

I had girls in my school who started waxing at age 13-14 and the best thing was that by the time they were 24 they had literally no hair on their arms and legs and could go months without any waxing. I would probably do that for my daughter as well.

Probably thread the upper lip but also add some natural thing to maybe slow the growth. It is a pain having to do it all the time.

Re: So at what age do you allow your girls

i have started already, only body waxing not eye brows though. she's 7. i think it will help her in long run. but since its painful i'm gonna keep it 2-3 times a yr only. if it works with her and she gets less hair by the time she's 10-11, i'll do same with my youngest one.
