So at what age do you allow your girls

To get waxed, threaded…?

Re: So at what age do you allow your girls

after 18 at least

Re: So at what age do you allow your girls

depends on how hairy they are, to put it bluntly. i had my eyebrows first done at 17 and waxing at 16.

Re: So at what age do you allow your girls

Depends on whether it is absolutely necessary. We used to have a little girl around 6-7 in our school bus as a kid and she had a massive unibrow and a 'stache and I felt horrible for her! All the little boys would make fun of her, it was horrible. After that, I promised myself that if my daughter had problematic hair (unibrow, thick arm/leg hair, any form of facial hair) I am definitely getting it laserd off. And the place my mom and I go for laser actually have patients as young as 6 that come in with their moms to get their unibrows lasered off because they get fun at school. I think any mother would be doing their daughters a favor, it is the worst thing that can happen to a girl at that age as far as tarnishing of beauty goes.

That being said, if she wants to get her eyebrows thinned or shaped at the age of 12? HECK NO!

Re: So at what age do you allow your girls

Depends on when they need it. Puberty is hitting earlier and earlier, and many girls feel self-conscious by even 10. If she is teased or troubled by it, she will try to deal with it herself, and may end up usimg harsh chemicals or razors. Better it happen with your guidance. I would allow waxing/threading on troublesome mustache or unibrow even at 11.

Re: So at what age do you allow your girls

I know somebody who made her girls wax as soon as they hit puberty, and her youngest was 9 and eldest was 11. She started with just bikini area and underarms, but then started waxing their legs and arms too.

Both of the girls arms have reacted very badly to wax (they got it done at a salon, not at home) and the girls have huge rashes/spots/scars all over the top of their arms. Their arms looks horrific. I personally think they were too young for removing hair on arms and legs. Underarm and bikini is a must though once you've starterd puberty. I think they both get their unibrow done too.

Sometimes I think it's too much, as they are still so young, but then I remember being that age and hating my unibrow. Strange as now im 29 I really CBA getting my eyebrows threaded half the time and wait months cos it hurts! But as a late teenager, it was a 2 weekly ritual.

Re: So at what age do you allow your girls

14

Re: So at what age do you allow your girls

I started doing the eyebrows at 14....SO 14!!!!

Re: So at what age do you allow your girls

I suppose it depends on the situation.....if they are getting teased then I would start as early as is required.
And there are several alternatives for this....you don't have to resort to waxing.......

Re: So at what age do you allow your girls

My mom only let us remove underarm hair when they showed up, but body hair and eyebrows after 16.

I have girls and so far the need isn't there as they are chota.

Re: So at what age do you allow your girls

When they need to start. My mum showed me how to wax when I joined secondary school, so about 11. I wished she had earlier as I already had a decent amount of leg and umderarm hair and used to get teased a lot.

If I have girls, they are getting electrolysis as soon as it becomes a problem.

Re: So at what age do you allow your girls

Does waxing too soon cause problems on their skin?

Re: So at what age do you allow your girls

^ my friend waxed since she was 12ish, and had no issues.

Re: So at what age do you allow your girls

I wasn't allowed waxing until I was 16. I had my eyebrows done for the first time for my brothers wedding at 15. I agree with what most people have said. If my daughter was getting teased then I would allow for eyebrow and/or upper lip at a younger age.

Re: So at what age do you allow your girls

I had a huge unibrow and although no one made fun of me i was still really concious of it. So i started doing it myself and as a result, i have horrendous pictures from 7th, 8th grade. I also had alot of leg hair and i wish my mom had showed me how to wax or remove it otherwise. I didnt start waxing my legs until i was about 20 though. I remember once when i was 12, i used my mom's hair removing cream to remove facial hair. My mom was mad!

So, i hope my daughter feels comfortable enough with me to come to me if and when she feels the need to remove hair anywhere.

Re: So at what age do you allow your girls

I had a lot of hair and still have. So if my daughter is anywhere near as hairy as me, she will be doing it quite early on. I did my eyebrows around 15 and my mum was sooo pissed!

Re: So at what age do you allow your girls

Oh how I wish that we all can keep our smooth clean baby skin, all our lives...na ho ga baans na baje gi baansree.
I started upper lip threading around the time when i was 15 or 16..eyebrows followed soon.i waxed my arms around the same time. Like others said,if it is affecting her self esteem I will allow my daughter as she enters her teen years or a lil before that...
For now she is my baby and I dont wanna think of this stuff...

Re: So at what age do you allow your girls

I have heard, girls should get waxed before their very first periods, because this stops the excessive hair to grow on the body!!

Re: So at what age do you allow your girls

Umm I got my eye brows threaded when I was 18. :sid:

Also I didn’t and still don’t have excessive body hair so I started waxing body hair around 20. But yeah underarms were done when I was 15.

Re: So at what age do you allow your girls

depends on which part of the body......I was told that the pulling and tugging makes your skin loose.....you lose some of the elasticity and can become prone to wrinkles earlier than if the practice is avoided or kept to a minimum.
